Rare Guns
This heading is the most irritating part of any auction. If someone is looking for a particular gun they will already know it it is rare or not. I imagine a Colt single action army in pristine condition with a three digit serial number is rare but other than that most rare guns are not that rare except for in the eyes of the seller.

Every time we have hard/ bad times any rare gun now seems to be 10 for sale🤔

I prefer medium rare guns.
Being rare does not always mean worth a bunch of money. I have one that is one of the 200 ever made, Ugly as sin, rather cheap- but a fun shooter.
It is an M1 Carbine. In 9mm parabellum. Made by Iver Johnson. Made with a "boat paddle" style stock of Zytel nylon with a pistol grip. Scarce enough I have found a description in the IJ literature, but no photo. Paid $200 to a dealer that had despaired of ever selling it.
If old and scarce alone made something valuable, I would sell for a fortune.

Yes title words can be and do get played a lot. It gets aggravating doing searches sorting through all the hits that come up.
I know GB staff in continuously working on filters to help eliminate some of the creative wording in titles. Admin Nunn gave personal time to work with GB auction side over the phone to eliminate misleading/misused titles. It's an on going effort.

Ha ha ha.....back when I was retail we would sometimes create elaborate sales tags for things.
The big cards that had the orange firework boarder around the edges.....in large writing we would put things like
"Carried by George Washington accross the Potomac" or "One of only 11 in this building"
It was fun to watch people read them and how long it took them to realize it was not serious.

I knew this guy who owned a tomahawk that once belonged to Daniel Boone. He took great pleasure in showing it off and telling many stories of how ole Dan'l used this hawk and how it had saved his life on many occasions.
He said it had been in his family for nearly 200 years and that one of his relatives replaced the head some time ago and another replaced the shaft a few years later. 😲

Now that is one fine pistol powder, usable in just about caliber you can load and a ton of Rifle rounds shooting cast bullets!

I can't usually afford rare, scarce I can sometimes do. I have noticed they are rare when I buy them, and common as dirt when I want to sell.
I've noticed when I'm buying stuff the sellers have the word vintage but if I'm trying to sell the exact same thing it's called junk.
