During the first Gulf War, I wore a t-shirt to school that said "I'd fly 10,000 miles to smoke a camel!" They tried to claim it was tobacco advertising, even though it showed a missile bearing down on Saddam Hussein riding a camel. I thought it was hilarious. It was either change the shirt, wear it inside out, or get suspended for the rest of the day.

I chose Option 3, and spent the rest of the day fishing.

Those are great stories. My administration seemed afraid to suspend me…guess they wanted me in sight during school hours so they could (try) to keep me in line. Something to do with getting straight As and also winning the “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” Award. Precarious age…glad things worked out ok.

One of my friends wore a Beatles sweatshirt to school when we were in elementary school. The teacher made him wear it inside out because she swore the Beatles were a communist plot to control the American youth.

A bit of why I was in trouble all the time

    I am a short fellow and in 9th grade I weighed 93 pounds 125 when I graduated

In school I got picked on a lot like tossed down stair ways locked in lockers I can't count the times they tried to put me head first into a toilet never did I fought like cat headed to the bath tub

being short also ment just about evey taller kid (or all of them) like to thump me on the head with ther class rings just to name a few of my adventures

But the same group would be best buddies next day and repete in a never ending cycle Any serious threats the would be there to help me go figure kids

I always just took it as fun I was never hurt Just kids being kids different times for sure

Any way i would get caught (my downfall)

retaliating or getting even . Then the principal or teacher would paddle me for fighting. Gee what a system I got it coming and going

Getting paddled and or detention was just part of my entire school time

Funny I never once wanted or thought about going postal as the old saying goes

now fighting is a different story I got to the point i enjoyed fighting lol

But any way I did my share and more of detention and getting paddled and trust me some of the teachers took their built up frustration on me

    I

Today it would be unheard of and labeled as some major crime lol

Same. Ironically, it was for defending myself against a bully. The teacher that watched it from the start, and let it happen, didn't like seeing one of his pet students get ironed out, apparently. Oh lawdy did it feel good, though.

I was always the class clown. One day I wore a combination of clothes and shoes that got me sent home to change them and then had to go to the principal's office to listen to his lecture on appropriate clothing for school.

Got suspended for skipping school. Never did make much sense to me - wasn't in school when I was supposed to be so the principal told me to miss even more school. Not that I minded...

A couple detentions for skipping school. I got caught with some cigarettes by my football coach. He made me run 1 mile each night after practice for a month. Usually right after we had finished sprints.

Didn't dare get in trouble-- too many of the teachers knew my parents -- talk about "Double Jeopardy!"

Senior year FB players decided to egg the principal's house. Just as they were about to head for his house I had to take supper to dad in the field harvesting milo. By the time I got back they were done/

Only guy caught was the president of the Honor Society!!!

They (all the teachers) used Oak paddles with holes drilled in the paddle in my days.

Detention would have been a good thing and welcomed because I like to fish and hunt.

Them oak paddles also sure cured ADD fast. (Attention Deficit disorder)

Yes. Inumerable times. Like @Ditch-Runner, I used to be short and slight. Combine that with being an "Army Brat" and the perpetual "New Kid," I was in a lot of fights growing up. (You learned real quick, you either Stood Up for Yourself, or you were gonna be pegged as an Easy Mark, by everybody.)

6'1" 195 lbs now. I can hold my own, with pretty much anyone now. I don't fight "Fair."

Well, yes, I got suspended for one day by our principal- for something I did not do. Years later I met him again. He was now the superintendent of the school system for that county. And I was the guy from the school system's insurance company conducting loss control inspections of all the schools in the county.

Nice to see you again. Here is your copy of the list of the items that need to be fixed in the next 30 days. Call me if you have questions.
