Had a Conversation with an Army Deep Sea Diver and a SF Soldier Yesterday -
I know this guy from work. He is a regular shopper there. He is a dead ringer for Willie Nelson. Everytime I see him, I call out "Willie!" He gets a good laugh out of it. 👍😁
Anyway, yesterday, we are talking and I notice that he is wearing a T-shirt that says, "Army Deep Sea Diver." I ask him if indeed that is the case? He replies "Yes, Trained by the Navy. Did a Tour in Nam."
I was impressed, and told him so. Shook his hand. New Respect for the Man. He has always been very kind with me and engages me in conversation when we meet.
Much Respect.
Also met and talked to an SF Soldier. (Had a BB Cap on.) I asked him "5th or 7th?" He instantly knew what I was talking about, so not a "Poser." He answered (Sorry I forget,) "17th or 19th, in Nam. I was Very Proud to Serve." We talked for awhile.
Was Proud to shake his hand, as well.

Ken, nephew spent a lot of time in 5thGP. I am having a hard time of it since my little dog Willie passed away. Don't know if I will ever be the same. Nephew just got back from Africa and he made a special trip from Ft Bragg to help me for five days to try and recover from losing Willie.
G----- trains SF troops all over the world. He is a young CSM, two Purple Hearts and no room on his Class A's for any more ribbons. I lost track of how many tours he had in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among his many duties, many I can not talk about here is Combat Medic. Trained in many Hospitals in USA. I was sick one day when he was here and he helped me while here and I did not have to go to hospital.
G-----'s CO (A West Pointer) was killed instantly sitting next to him crossing the Green Zone in Iraq. A large field radio sitting between them saved his life. A little Iraq boy tried to warn him but Nephew thought he was just trying to be friendly by waving. G----- came from a broken home and adopted me and Diane as his family. We got the call at 2AM in the morning when roadside bomb went off.
G----- got out of Army after 12 years but missed the Army and was in Texas NG for a couple years. He has some friends in high places I guess. Rented his home in Austin and rejoined Army as Active Duty. I believe he will retire in about three years.
While nephew was here he promised me that he would work with my daughter and give me proper send off when I am gone. I will lay beneath Old Glory with my sweetheart Diane and little Willie if they will allow it. I hope the left wing liberal socialist that are destroying our beautiful USA are standing upwind when the Rifles go off and Taps are played. I hope they will smell the burned powder in their nostrils and know that another Patriot has left us. ----Ray
PS: Ken, glad to see you have be-friended a fellow vet . By the way, my little Willie is named after Willie Nelson.

Military and Police,,, I always get a great feeling when I can pay for a meal for one of them.

I tend to most often (always) acknowledge a fellow Vet, when I see one. I am most Proud, of EVERYONE that has Served. I've said this before here, (but) my Dad was a long time Army ABN/CSM. WWII, Korea, Vietnam. Super Proud of him. We grew up in that Military Culture.
*Ray, I've thought about you innumerable times, recently. My Heart goes out to you Brother. I wish I could give you a hug. Your Nephew reminds me of my Dad.
Those that have Served/Fought for this Country, have Earned and Deserve my Respect and Admiration. Crisp Hand Salute.
