Navy guys Help
I'm trying to find info on my Grandfather, that served on the USS Cabot CV 28 and the USS Yorktown. I was trying to locate his medals and service records. How do I go about finding out this Info????? Also, he fell off the carrier and was picked up on the Destroyer USS Rich, during a combat mission. LOL. Not sure how to find his service records. Oakie

Oakie,
I think this will be your ticket:
Request Military Service Records
Veterans and their next of kin can get FREE copies of their DD 214, and other military service records including Official Military Personnel File (OMPF), Replacement Medals, and Medical and Health Records.Hope that helps. Good luck!

Frogdog beat me to it, I got all my father's records and a replacement for all of his medals. It does take a long time though, if I remember it was over six months.
My wife's father was also on the Yorktown, my dad was on the Hornet (CV-12) and the Wasp (CV-7)
