The armadillos are here in the Upstate of S.C. in Spartanburg County. You don't see many but according to my 23 year old son who is wearing out the highways between Spartanburg and Florence there are dead Dillos everywhere down towards Florence.

Remember wearing out the highways?? Nothing like a 23 year old Cutie Pie to turn a 23 year old boy into highway running hormone!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚

It took years for the armadillos to cross the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers, but they're here in force. Funny story on the battlefield... It was the site of immersive living history training for the entire NPS. Trainees had to live on the Park for the entire experience and couldn't have or use anything that was not period correct. It was about this time of year, and the weather could get pretty nasty, just like in the actual battle. The public was invited to come and watch. The wife and I went to see a cannon firing drill using live fire with a plaster projectile for safety and to mark the hit with white powder. Upon the shot, it was immediately apparent that the crew had miscalculated and dropped the round on the cooking area where dinner was simmering over the open fire. Oops!!

Back to the Armadillos: Years ago went to visit my BIL in Houston and he loaned my sweetheart and me his Jeep to drive to Austin. i think it was I10 or I40 not sure. Ran into horrible traffic jam and finally worked our way up to the source of the problem. People were parked along shoulders on both sides and running ahead with cameras. I thought must be horrible accident.

On right side at edge of pavement was the biggest Armadillo i ever saw in my life. He was in the dying cockroach position or you could say the dead drunk Armadillo position. At the tip of his toes pointed at the sky laid a empty monster Budweiser can.

There I sat and did not even have a camera. -------------------------------Ray
