Winchester model 70 1954
I finally got around to taking a close look at this model 70 and she is pretty nice. Started out as a .22 Hornet, the barrel is marked "22H and 53. It was converted to .222 Rem at some point by J.S. Darrow who had a shop in Woodbury, Connecticut. It is my understanding that Mr. Darrow passed in the mid 1970's but there is a lot of information available if one googles his name. He was recognized as a master gunsmith from what I have read. He restocked the rifle with a fine piece of walnut.

I had to chuckle at the recoil pad! Very nice though.

Has the magazine been converted or is it single shot?
