Photo quality
Does anyone know where I can find information on photo guidelines or technical specifications for photos of sale items? I just listed my first item for sale and I took very high quality photographs of my rifle I'm selling. I'm a photographer by trade and I have professional equipment, more than that, I also know how to use it. When I uploaded my photos GB absolutely destroyed them. My beautiful photos that I worked so hard to make nearly perfect now look like they were made with a mid range cell phone. I know what GB did. They compressed the crap out of the photos and that just makes them look terrible. I'm guessing if the photos meet a certain specification then GB won't mess with them. If I know what their criteria is then I can make them look beautiful again. Any help is appreciated.

Does your computer have a resize option re photos.?? You might try that.

There are quite a few auctions that have "high resolution photos" that are added below, in the description. How to do that though is above my pay grade, you might need to get help from forgemonkey.

@Locust Fork seems to have worked long and hard to do just what you're doing. She may be along shortly to help, hopefully.

What size files are you uploading? I usually post pix that are in the 5" range with mid-level resolution but I up the contrast in PS.
You might want to offer folks "Email for higher resolution" pix option if GB allows.

Yeah I just did that. Might have helped a little. I get the feeling GB is going to compress the images regardless.

They were 4928 px wide @ 300 dpi. I replaced them with 2048 px wide @72 dpi. So they went from 7-9 meg to about 1 meg.

If you are a photographer then you are looking at them with a much more critical eye, they may look like crap to you but just fine to everyone else.
They will still sell your guns ........................ don't stress over it.
