I remember those, they looked like an M1 carbine, I always wanted one but never did get one.

What kind of problems are you having?

A Marlin 60 with detachable magazine. They are temperamental usually the clip.

The Marlin model 70 was the model 60 with a detachable magazine I thought.

Most of the trouble I see with .22 or pretty much any semi auto firearm is either dirt, magazine, or ammo related.

It loves to jam... Sometimes right away or after 100 rounds

I had a 22 that loved to jam

Granted it was a 22 stoger make to look like a luger

But similar problems on different 22 cal guns

When i woild have issues most of them I would use cci 22 stingers? And they made a world of difference in most all of them the hotter rounds made them cycle better

Just have to keep trying different brands some 22's are just stubborn

The 989 I'm familiar with had a tempermental ejector that required frequent adjustment. Nice looking rifle though.

I have a Marlin 989. Made around 1970 I believe. Mine works great with good ammo CCI minimag especially. Many of these are missing the rear sight as it has to come off to mount a scope and people lose them. Luckily, I never mounted a scope on mine. If you experience problem with jamming, try different ammo brands or a different magazine.

I've tried 3 different kinds including mini mag... I Think it's the magazine...

Mine had a scope... I took it off

I have a Marlin which kind of resembles an M-1 Carbine. It is called the 99 M-1. It has a 9 shot tube magazine but it malfunctions occasionally, too. It appears the 989 was made in 2 versions, one of which resembled an M1 Carbine. Looks like yours is the other one.
