Who's got a cute .22?
This belongs to the boss. While I was scrounging around in one of the safes to find my Anschutz for bpost's rifle thread, I ran across Judy's little pride and joy. It is an Anschutz Woodchucker that she bought in about 1990. This was a cheap entry level kids beginner gun. Ted, a relative of hers was a stockmaker and hated the plain birch stock it came with, so he performed a little magic.
It has a skeleton grip cap and a checkered butt. No regular scope that I tried looked in proportion and I finally found an out of production Redfield 4X rimfire scope that looked good on it. I think Judy paid about $150 for the rifle and I probably have $75 in the scope and mounts. Dang thing shoots as good as it looks. Maybe I'll have to take it to the range and put a few more rounds through it one of these days. Like I said in the other post, to many guns and to little time. Bob

Got a Savage/Anschutz mod.164. I bought it back in 1983, removed the iron sights and put a Leopold rim fire scope on it. Out of all the rifles I have, this rifle has what I would say has the perfect trigger. Have sent many; many a squirrels on ahead with this rifle.

I had a 164 but sadly that wasn't one of the guns that was ever recovered after my house was broken into in 1989. But there is still hope because I did get that Win 101 back last year that was lost in that same break in.
My 164 won a half dozen trophies at our club .22 matches in the mid to late 80's. I say it won because it was always some one I loaned it to that got first place! 😀 Bob

I think I have mentioned a couple of times on here about finally doing a 10/22 build. I know I am in the minority, never really caring much for the 10/22, because of the poor factory trigger and stock. But being a self-described .22 nut I felt not having one was somehow sacrilegious. When a plain Jane carbine fell into my lap, it was a sign that one needed to be built.
A fluted .920 McGowen barrel, Boyds stock, new trigger, good base and rings and a decent scope.
This is the result the first time I shot it. The shots walking up to the center bull was getting the scope sighted in. The other 4 targerts are 5 shot groups. Needless to say I was quite happy with my efforts. Oh, and I did buy a "few" more boxes of the Aguilla.😀 Bob

Somewhere in my old Windows 98 hard drive, are pics of my matched set of "S Series" Kimbers, in 22LR, 22Mag, and 22 Hornet. They were scanned from old 35mm pictures.
Oddly.......when at the range.......my wife and son would fight over my grandfather's Winchester 61 Octagon barrel rifle. It is a neat little shooter. 👍

I have a relative that bought every dang one as they came out. He single handedly made his FFL a master Kimber dealer! Some calibers they only made a few dozen or so meaning he has some pretty rare guns. I've seen some on the auction side go for big bucks, but he doesn't care and will never sell his. Maybe this is where I got my .22 sickness/addiction.😁 Bob

I also have several more 22's. I still have my Sears and Roebuck/Glenfield 22 youth model, from 1967. It was my first rifle that my dad bought me.

Back in the day........even being "small time", Kimber would send me many offers/options. They even offered pictures of different stocks to choose from.
That all slowly came to an end..........and later, Janet Reno pulled my ticket.
But........long before Kimber......my love of rimfires started with a Ruger Mark 1 Target, a Win 9422M, a Savage-Anschutz 164M, and a Savage-Anschutz 54M.
Still have the 54M.......😉
My hand unloading/reloading of 22Mag ammo.......is another story. 😇

This is kinda cute, I bought the stock on the auction side from a forum member. He was just starting up making these and had this as a buy it now for about $ 70 , I grabbed it quick . With the cabon fiber barrel it weighs very little . A nd very accurate
