Colt 1860 army
Looking at this colt here is what the guy tells me. . Colt serial number dates this 44 black powder Army to 1863. All frame cylinder and even the wedge pin all have matching serial numbers. The bore is in good shape as shown. The action is smooth, and lockup looks good. Faint cylinder scroll work present. At some point a Civil war reenactor has probably. had the gun nickeled. The bottom of the grips has been. carved out for the use of a lanyard, guessing this gun has spent time with a mounted soldier. He asking 1500.00

I think that's an awfully high price for something like that with all those modifications. It's historical value is gone and it's just a shooter.

I have one historical thing, so I am not an expert - BUT - I am voting with 'Ambrose' - 'Lucy in the sky diamonds - trolling - trolling - trolling'.

The frame and bottom of the grip frame are machined for a shoulder stock as was used by some Union cavalry units in the CW.

Ambrose hit it on the head. Value is definitely gone. It's a shame someone did that to this fine revolver. Not worth the 1500. Maybe, just maybe half that, in my opinion. Even then, I wouldn't want it.
