Wood Glue, Polyurethane or ?????
Had my last section of fence installed last week, and they hung my 10 foot gate to low. I want to re-hang it higher and planned on putting some one inch wood dowels in the existing holes. What would be the best bonding agent to use around the dowels?

Just a little dab of TiteBond III should do the trick. Be sure to get some type of finish on the still exposed end.
If you can cut some lengthwise grooves in the dowel below where it'll be visible or sand the interior portion of it down a bit it will help give some of the glue a place to go and you won't have as much issue with squeeze out.

That's exactly what I planned on doing, but just thought I'd check. Thanks Steve.

Second that. I have some clear non-foaming gorilla glue that is some of the strongest stuff I have ever used. Rated for both interior and exterior use. Bob

12oz per foot should do the trick! 😂

Are you sure the gates not hung upside down now making it appear a couple of inches too low ? I've seen that happen before 🙄

Why not have them come back and install it properly?

It's just easier for me to deal with it. All I have to do is drill some one inch holes thru a six inch post, and plug the other two.

Shouldn’t need any glue. Just pound in short plugs that are slightly bigger than the holes. Taper slightly on one end for easier starting.
