I hope the outcome is a 10 figure settlement from Amazon and 5 minutes alone in a room with the guy who cried racism. the only way out of this cultural BS is with extreme means.

I have yet to see any benefit to having any "smart" features in my home. Most of the functions that these gadgets perform can be be easily accomplished by dragging my lazy butt out of the lazy-boy. I will not have Alexa or any of the other stuff that can eavesdrop on me just to have the convenience of having all my electronics work upon voice command.

    Hell, I am such a luddite, I won't even buy a clapper! 😁Bob

Both my phone and TV's are not SMART. I learned from watching episodes of "The Outer Limits" not to like stuff taking control of the horizontal and the vertical! 😲

AI to control the house door locks. Then a moron delivery guy claims he hears racist remarks, and dingbat Libs at Amazon lock him out of his own house.

    Unbelievable.

Although I am a Luddite, I did break down and get one of those new-fangled "cell phones" just last week.

Maybe you can use the tooth part for your toofless cousin Darrel, keep the blue part for wall decoration next to the Raccoon tail.

So it can talk to your Bluetooth enabled frying pan, of course.

    Here ya go @Oakie

    "What does Luddite mean today?

    people who dislike new technology

“Luddite” is now a blanket term used to describe people who dislike new technology, but its origins date back to an early 19th-century labor movement that railed against the ways that mechanized manufactures and their unskilled laborers undermined the skilled craftsmen of the day.Aug 7, 2015"

Today a Luddite is someone who does not have an Iphone.

I must be one, then. My cell phone is a Samsung.

I will point out, however, that "having" and "using" are two different critters.

We just moved into our brand-new home. I have spent the last several days doing the appliance warranty registrations and trying to learn how our new stuff works.

These appliances come with just enough printed material to tell you if you want to know more email to request a pdf or printed copy of the manual by mail.

I actually had to sit down and learn how to do the registrations by smart phone using qr codes on the tags or create accounts to register the dang appliance.

I'm not a luddite but damn, I was pretty frustrated.

I had a pamphlet in multiple languages to tell me to email or visit the website for more information.

My binder from the builder got a lot thinner discarding the languages I can't read.

It can only get worse from here.

I now have a litter box for a cat that can be operated by smartphone app. HaHaHa!

If a luddite is one that hates new technology, then I will be one until I die.

And yes I use a computer but can just barely turn it on.

I bought a window unit a/c from Lowes. You had to register to get the warranty. Once upon a time, you registered by getting an ink pen, filling out a form, putting a stamp on it and mailing it in at the Post Office.

Today the only way to get the original [free] one year warranty is to register online with your email address. I registered. And for the past year and a half I have been bombarded by Lowes with ads, about two a week.

Lowes air conditioners never break in the first year anyway. It is just a sucker's play so they can bombard your email with ads.

    ink pen

    postage stamp

Say these words to a 20 year old, they would have no idea what you meant. If you pushed they would use their Iphone, which is, of course already in their hand, and they could show you a photo of a postage stamp on the Iphone.
