The Probability Post Reminded Me
The radiator on my 1962 John Deere 2010 leaked, so late last summer, I had to tear down the tractor; about 27 or 30 bolts and screws; take off the hood and the grill, pry bar and cut the hoses, etc. Got the radiator repaired ($88), got the tractor 90% back together when the 7/16" socket dropped off and fell into a completely inaccessible spot. My choice was take the tractor apart again or give up the socket. This spring I was checking the tractor: tire pressure, oil & grease, etc. I took off the access panel to check the air cleaner and there sat the socket in plain sight right in front of me! I like to think the socket moved while I was using the tractor, but I suppose I just missed it (No, that can't be it!).

Probably a 10mm socket. 🤣. I swear that gremlins are hoarding all the 10 mm sockets in the world. I now buy them buy the dozen. My mechanic son is always stealing mine. Last Christmas, we filled his stocking with all 10 MM sockets, as a joke.

Two of the handiest gadgets in my shop- about 18 inches long, flexible shaft that holds shape- one has a magnet at tip. other a 3 pronged "grabber". Good for reclaiming sockets, screwdriver bits, springs and drain plugs.
