My elder Granddaughter
Got a job as a summer youth counselor.
She is liking her job so far, but she's getting a big dose of reality of how hard it is for some of these kids at home. She had a little boy ask her if he could live with her and if she would be his mommy. They were doing a craft where they were making paper watches and she was taping them around their wrists. Another little boy said he didn't want his taped to his wrist. When she asked him why he said he wanted to put it on his Dad's grave. She gave him another one to make for himself. These are K-3rd-grade kids. It's heartbreaking. They feed them breakfast and lunch and for some of these kids, it's the only food they will get that day. I'm proud of her for being a positive role model for these kids and making a difference in their lives. But some of the stories almost bring you to tears.

Kudos to your granddaughter! I hope she can have some positive effect on some young lives. You are correct about some of these stories bringing tears to your eyes. When our daughter was in grade school(2005-2009ish) my wife worked in the grade schools as a teacher's aide. Our daughter is now a grade school teacher, teaching special needs kids in a tribal school. Yes the stories are heart wrenching.

I don't know about you guys, but it makes me want to adopt all these kids and give them a loving secure home. This absolutely tugs at your heart strings. Your grand daughter is an amazing lady. She probably is too humble to realize, that she is making a huge difference in their lives. I wish we had more people like your grand daughter.
