Newsom proposes constitutional amendment to restrict gun rights
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is proposing a 28th Amendment to the Constitution that would curb gun rights without abolishing the Second Amendment.

He's blowing smoke, trying to get support for his presidential aspirations. He has said he knows that it'll never pass but wants to draw attention to the problem. Methinks he wants to draw attention to himself.
If he really wanted to make a difference in peoples lives, he would do something about the border and drugs like fentanyl. Drug overdose fatalities in California last year wear almost 3 times the firearms homicide rate at 26.6 per 100,000 versus 9 per 100,000 for gun deaths. But I guess that would be to hard. Bob

By proposing a Constitutional Amendment to enact age restrictions, universal background checks and semi-auto rifle bans, Newsome is admitting that it is necessary to do so.
If these laws were Constitutional, such an amendment would not be necessary.
This is a tremendous rhetorical victory for the 2nd Amendment. A radical anti liberty gun control advocate has publicly admitted that the laundry list of leftist gun control laws are not Constitutional, and to enact them the Constitution must be Amended.
