“Pittsburgh” muzzle loader. “R.Patton” engraving
I won at least a wall hanger muzzle loader at a local auction. The auction house is pretty lame on firearm description.
this was described as a Pittsburgh .36 muzzleloader with “R. Patton” engraved. I find nothing on internet searching and nothing on a reference book ihave that is pretty extensive on gunmakersin my state, going back to the 1700’s.
anybody have some info.

PER AMERICAN FIREARMS MAKERS by A.M. Carey: R.F. Patton, 1858 - 1865. General gunsmith at Quincy, Ohio. That is the only one I found in my reference books. It is a plain rifle but in nice condition. There were many gunsmiths in the percussion rifle period whose production was low and their name is unknown. Good luck.
