Our little league catcher went by the initials CT, which we converted to TC and called him Trash Can because he was always covered in dirt.

I remember growing up, though not sure why, it was disrespectful to wear our baseball caps backwards in practice or during a game, I guess it bled over to home life as I remember my dad calling anyone who wore one backwards a dumb...

One local guy comes to mind. He always wore his 'engineer' cap with the bill flipped up. Story was this began when he was an aircraft mechanic in WW2. Another hint was everyone called him 'Sarge" even though his first name was Frank.

Don’t really remember many of us kids wearing hats, unless you were playing ball in little league. But those that did wear them wore them with the bill to the front. And on a side note we also wore are pants up proper, not down below are asp.

growing up I don't remember seeing any of the kids other than a ball team wearing a cap. high school a few but mostly farmers wearing a john Deere or similar.
a few old fellows wore hats but they were older fellows like 50's or 60's ( you know the really old men 😲 )
I started wearing a ball cap when I was about 20 yrs old I started working construction and had to wear a hard hat
so a ball cap was in its place after work , then I went to work in a factory we had to wear ball caps with a plastic liner Bumb cap inside it
so even now I put on a ball cap it t became a daily routine when I go out I put on a cap . its like putting on socks or underwear just part of my daily routine with out it feels like I am not dressed LOL
I had a old car buddy back int e 70's he was a year or two older and had a nice GTX who wore a ball cap all the time his wife told us he wore it to bed even
as far as backwards that came along later like a symbol of rebellion

I never was a hat guy, but I hated my scalp getting sunburned, so now I am a Stetson guy. Rarely ball caps, my ears sunburn with those.

Growing up on a farm we always had a surplus of caps from the seed, fertilizer and implement dealers. That was a common give away back then if you used their product.

Back in the early 60's my position as catcher for my grade school baseball team was the only cause for wearing a cap backwards. My memories of most caps back then seem to recollect larger bills on them.
Pretty sure the trend for seeing youngsters wearing caps backwards started in the late 80's into the early 90's. Thinking it was a "Hip Hop" "RAP" "Gangsta" thing.

When I was a kid I wore my dad's WWII army hat with the gold medallion and hard bill to school. Several of my friends wore their dad's as well. Everyone I knew, their dad was a WWII veteran. In the '60s I started wearing the seed corn caps while driving open station tractors all day long. Still wear them today; have one on right now. I have 100-150 I have accumulated without even trying. Only wear them backwards when welding. I do take it off when I shower or go to bed.
