Well that didn't take long shootuadeal.
To me, Albert Lum was the nastiest of them all.

Barz wasn't always a troll.
In the beginning he was ok.

Great Guns, by far. Followed by Mr Mike.

Mr Mike was a slimy individual. Good riddance to that lying POS.

Wasn't Great Guns the guy that said he was a chef and owned a couple of Ferraris , worked on huge yachts and was moving to Italy?
And Mr Mike, was he the guy that said he had cancer, took pastries to the hospital, etc. ?

Plus, he was a veteran, former LEO.
0 -
Don't know what he really did but he should have been a fiction writer.

Wasnt he also a Black belt,SWAT member. Etc….
Great Guns would post pictures of every sandwich he made but ask him to post pics of the rare corvette barn find he “bought” and he couldn’t do it
but he had one member on here sure fooled by his tall tales

I disagreed with practically everything Barz said, but he was consistent in what he believed. Gotta give him credit for that.

It's true, there have been quite a few trolls over the years.... but they fade away with time.
Despite the trolls, and given the changes in online comms over 20+ years, the forums have had an amazing run. I attribute that to the many good, genuine folks who hang around here and keep things on an even keel.

I must have missed a bunch when I was gone. What happened with him? The last I remember, he was still here, talking about guns and frequenting a kid's cancer ward.

MM posted pictures of fine high quality guns that he claimed ownership and refinish of. One member here called him out on finding same photo on the internet, on a couple occasions. MM would edit out the picture and it just kinda went pass everyone else.
MM then posted a picture of a special issue Military Police badge he claimed was his fathers from serving as an MP at Ft. Leonard Wood, and gave some details of Ft. Wood and surrounding area. I called BS on his post and showed where the picture of the badge was taken from the internet. I further explained that was not the issue badge at Ft. Wood, and pointed out other false claims to MM regarding MP's at Ft. Wood. I explained I served as a MP at Ft. Wood. MM began back pedaling and was unable to back his claims.
About the same time he had a very nice rifle in a thread claiming ownership, and that he had worked on, refinished that gun.
A member again pointed out that the rifle was listed two other places on the internet for sale and included the exact same picture(s) MM had posted.
MM went in and began editing all his post. Mark seen this and MM was busted. Mark was very upset over this. He said he was scammed by someone he thought was truly a friend. He was hurt, embarrassed, and angry. MM was banned and Mark dumped a ton of his post/threads.

He had a lengthy diatribe re a Mauser rifle he was customizing. He was always wondering if he needed to do more or if he had done too much.
I did a quick search and found the exact rifle/photo he was touting as his custom. It was for sale on another site, with the hang tag visible from the trigger guard. Albeit, you needed to enlarge the image and enhance the color.
I ask why ‘his’ rifle was for sale elsewhere and he started deleting his verbiage. That’s when MC dressed him down and the rest is history.

Myself and Bob went to meet Mr. Mike at the Delran sportsman club. You could tell right away that something was wrong with this guy. He told us he was the range officer. While we were there, I ran into one of my fathers best friends. He told me to stay far away from Mike, that he was NOT the range officer, a Bullsh!TTer and was getting ready to be tossed from the club. As it turns out, My dad's friend was actually the range officer and showed me his badge stating so. Mike showed us his handgun collection, which was all worthless junk, wall hangers. Needless to say, our visit didn't last long and Bob and I took off to go have lunch by ourselves. My dad's friend, also told us that Mike didn't have cancer, just a bad case of the BS blues, in his words. 🤣. My dad's friend is Named ,Bob Haig, by the way. Big time gun collector and one of the most honest people you will ever meet. In case your reading this, Be careful of the BS you sling Mr. Mike, cause you never know, who people might know around you!!!!, and I know a lot of people in South Jersey and can back it up with names!!
The other was Dr. "I'm dying of cancer guy". He is did die eventually. I know his name started with a P, Something Like Plumiuara or something. I called his office after he died, and he was in with a patient. Guess it was his ghost!! I was calling to get an address to send flowers and a card to his family. I felt like I got kicked in the nuts. What a D bag move that was!!!
I know some of you will not like this, but I actually liked Gary, Selectfire and Captfun was also very nice to me. I conversed with him a few times and had a lot of respect for him as a man and a friend. I also spoke with Gary a few times. Never and issue. I did like teasing him, especially knowing he couldn't take it. LOL This was a picture I posted when he was telling us about his autographed Dale Jr. Vette. I told him this was my Dale Jr. autographed Thermos he sent me. LOL

eboydell wasn't a troll. He was an attorney in Metaire Louisiana. I enjoyed his posts.

Not exactly a troll, but possibly the most paranoid conspiracy wingnut here was serf. Geez, he could turn anything into a dire omen or plot.

This forum has certainly changed and evolved since I first started lurking here way back in my gun counter days. Back then it was certainly entertaining but you had to wade through an awful lot of b.s. to get to anything useful. There are three characteristics that I have little tolerance for; arrogance, rudeness, and lying. We have had an abundance of members in the past that have had one or more of those characteristics and sometimes all three. I think you can fill in the blanks.
GG and Barz were guilty of both arrogance and rudeness the last year or so that they were here. Perhaps I was a bit more tolerant than most because I attributed it to the Covid pandemic. Barz is in the medical field and I figured his stress level had probably gone off the charts. GG had big plans with his move that were stymied by the pandemic and I think he started to take his frustration out on us. I may be in the minority, but I miss seeing them both posting. Bob

I never had a problem with SelectFire.I wish he was still here to talk me out of buying a Corvette at my age.

I could spend hours talking about this Topic but I will hold my tongue. Nobody is perfect and then there are the Fakes. If you stick around long enough you will spot them. I think Capt Fun and Mark knew how to squeeze the fakes out of the woodwork. I found Bert was very helpful over on the Auction Side. ---------------------------Ray

In case any of you are interested, there are many definitions about trolling and why people tend to do it... here is just one example that is pretty good generalization of the topic:
https://www.lifewire.com/what-is-internet-trolling-3485891
And for what it is worth at least one of the Members mentioned above wasn't banned, they choose to no longer post after having their hand slapped, mainly for dishing it out but complaining when the same was done to them...
