I Have Crossed Over to the Dark Side!
After many years of fueling the fire on the never-ending Gunbroker “1911 vs Glock” feud, I have finally done it. I ordered not one, but TWO 1911s……. .45 and 10mm.
I feel like I’ll be left out now, unable to poke fun at either side. And even scarier……what if I like them better?
-
You can still poke fun, only now with real experiences good or bad...

I tried to 3D print a 1911 once and the printer jammed.

If they were not built by Gloke, you will remain in good standing brother dog. You do have also a revolver in .357 also don't you? Mr. P says it is outdated, so all the more reason to have one.

Did you at least order ones that have polymer frames? That way you could ease into this without to much of a shock to your system. Bob

I didn't know you could limp wrist a 3D printer.

Welcome to the sunny side of the street.

Of course! I was under the impression that a .357 revolver was a requirement of being considered a grown man.

No such luck. Dove right in with Rock Island "Ultras". At the prices going around this week, it was practically a 2-for-1 deal.

Be sure and give us a report after you have given them a try. I hear good reports about them but have never shot one. Bob

Congrats on the new toys
After thinking on that age old battle 9mm or 45acp
Polymer or steel
I have decided I don't want shot by any of them And on the receiving end the hole they leave will not care what it came from lol

Would that be the same 10mm the Feebies disavowed?

Indeed. And they did so because their women couldn't shoot it.

I have had my 357 and 45 acp 1911 for over 40 years. My standing in the group is impeccable.

Of course it is.

I joined the lines together years ago with a Coonan Cadet 1911 (style) in 357.

Glocks are like Austrian Wemmen
1911 are heavy and under capacity, kinda like a Butch Russian woman.
1911 is at home on the bedside table but the Glock likes to ride in my waistband

I have a Glock 20, Springfield Omega (thanks to bambihunter), and a Star MegaStar (also thanks to bambihunter) in 10mm and a CZ-75B in 40 S&W. No ifs ands or buts - the MegaStar is head and shoulders above the rest - but you are not going to have it riding around in your waist band - high capacity and heavy and puts things where you say if you do your part. If I must go to some areas of town or especially - Jacksonville, Florida - it is the CZ-75B in the cross-draw holster under the Guayabera (Cuban barber shirt) and the backup magazine in the special pocket put in place by a local seamstress in my right hand pants pocket.

Yep, I have to go down to Jacksonville a few times per week myself. Parts of that town make me want to carry TWO guns.

I have several 1911s. Of course the .45, but also in 10mm. You will be happy with both.
As I tell my critics, I used to carry for 20 years: 6, so having 7 is a bonus round.

'Frogdog' - if I have to go to the Prime Osburn - when I come off interstate and have to negotiate the higgles and jiggles to get there - I have THREE guns. The CZ-75B - a Walther PP and backup magazine in an ankle holster and a S&W 29-2 and speed loader that I can lay up on the dash if necessary - and three times I have had to put it up there because of people standing around at the stop lights - slapping baseball bats on their hands. I do NOT go to Jacksonville unless absolutely necessary. It has been several years since I went to Miami - but I had rather go there at that time than go to Jacksonville.
Best Regards - AQH
