An American soldier has been detained by North Korea on Tuesday after "willfully and without authorization" crossing the Military Demarcation Line, a U.S. Forces Korea spokesperson says.
About to be kicked out of the Army for cause. Disobeyed orders and goes on a DMZ tour before his flight back and apparently crosses into N. Korea. Sounds like he did it deliberately to avoid his discharge and gain some attention. Well we traded the Merchant of Death for a basketball player and I bet we pay thru the *** to get this numb skull back. My opinion is that if he chose to be there, leave him there. Bob

To some people being studied just seems to to come easy. I would imagine he was in some type of military uniform or had his dog tags on him, so I’m sure the North Koreans will give him all the attention he wants and then some. What a dumb asp.

Here is my thoughts. We should contact somebody from the PRNK and have them set up an ice cream stand near the boarder. Then we invite Joe Biden for a visit to the DMZ. Harris can accompany him.

I suspect he imagined he'd be welcomed as some kind of hero. I bet the reality came as quite a shock.
He will probably be useless to the Norks, even as a bargain chip. Only his mother would want him back. Nor will be an intelligence gold mine. As a Private, his knowledge of anything important would be minimal, and as a known troublemaker, he likely had no security clearance.
