so they caught it and then killed it , why not just use a shotgun on it , why catch it by hand ?
12 -
Never understood the concept of have to bring them in alive. Looks like it they REALLY wanted to eradicate them, it would be open season year round with a shotgun.
I used to go kayak camping in the Everglades a long time ago when we lived in Miami. Today? No way.
*I'm sure He Dog will explain/edjumicate me why they have to bring them in alive.

I would assume that in addition to a bounty, they can sell the intact skins.

thats one snake I would not want to take on by hand by my self I can see loosing th ebatter real fast wioth out at least one more brave person to help
other wise it would be DRT with a bullet hole or three in it
with its mouth opened it looks like a human head would fit easy
even getting bit would not be a experience I would like with a snake that big

Yeah, taking on a snake like that by yourself, would be suicide. The guy was smart enough, right off the bat, to grab the head with both hands. He immediately starts calling out for his partner to grab the tail.
Otherwise, you are going to get wrapped and subdued. Once he gets his mouth on you, you are in serious trouble.
I have handled large snakes (Boas/Pythons) in my early life at an exotic animal importer, in Miami. (My 1st "Job.") We had several people involved and they could be quite scary and ungodly strong. By myself? No way.

Florida Pythons........The "Other" white meat! Another Robert Mitchem AI voiced TV commercial is in order! 😁

I have handled a 12 foot, heavy bodied snake alone. I could keep from being hurt, but he still put me on the floor, and I could not have lasted indefinitely.

One guy fighting a 19 ft python, 3 other idiots videoing on their cell phones.

Kinda like when there is one guy in a hole in the street with a shovel, and three guys in suits and hardhats explaining his job to him.

I've wondered the same thing. A bounty is paid for the snakes, and they are all killed, so my thinking on it is: Why not just shoot the thing in the head and turn the carcass in for the bounty?

Wonder if 20 foot would be the record, if they quit killing them?
0 -
19 feet is currently the verified record, beating the previous record of 18' 2". They are not one of the longest species, easily out grown by reticulated pythons and anacondas. There are unverified records of Burmese longer, which is not surprising, given mens tendency to exeggerate length.
