I was going to put it in the frig a rator.
I just now cut up a fresh Costa Rican Pineapple planning to stow it in the refrigerator. I made the mistake of tasting a small piece and before I knew it, I had inhaled half of the damn thing. Good gracious, this thing is good. So, the remaining half will go in along with a couple of pounds of cherries, a bag of Red Delicious apples and some oranges. I love me some fresh fruit.

I do too. A couple of times a week (at least) I have a fruit salad. In addition to tasting great, they are a wonderful source of essential vitamins and minerals. Especially for diabetics like me.

I would be lying to say I even come close to eating healthy food in quantity that I should Far from it .

Practically speaking, there are no more Hawaiian pineapples. Nor sugar cane. Both industries dwindled to nothing and died.
Pineapples are native to Central/South America anyway. They were smuggled to Hawaii.

When it comes to selecting fruit and or vegetables that were grown in various countries, the big differences come in the form of what is legal there to use for fertilizers'!! It's a "DUNG" thing you know!😲

When I went to Hawaii on R&R from Vietnam, the locals honored all of us servicemen lavishly. In our hotel room was a fresh pineapple - the first fresh one I'd ever tasted. It was almost as sweet as seeing my wife again (but it was NOT the first thing we enjoyed after locking the door.)
Then, no matter where we ate, the moment we sat down, there would be a big glass of cold milk or a thick shake placed in front of me. They KNEW what we missed most (well, second-most) in Vietnam.
Hawaii changed in 50 years. By our next visit it had turned far left, military people were barely tolerated, and gone were the pineapples and cane fields. Honolulu is now San Fran West with homeless layabouts all begging. (How in hell do penniless people get to Hawaii anyway?)

When I was in the Navy and lived in Hawaii I used to send the cases of pineapple to Alabama from the Dole farm. There is such a huge difference between what you get in the store and fresh pineapple. Its really hard to explain to someone that hasn't ever tasted it. I wish I had some here now!!!

I hear ya Kasey! Kind of like peaches. They pick them green and hard as rocks. The true juicy flavor never really develops like the ones that are tree ripened!

We just got back from Hawaii and we had some delicious pineapple at the Dole plantation on Oahu and every morning at breakfast in Maui.
The pineapple remains one of the larger crops in Hawaii, even though it has receded from its heyday.

I had a case of pineapple juice in 8 or so oz cans. They sat in my closet for 5 or so years, maybe, probably longer. They were great and another is in there aging
