Ruger Wrangler
I know they are cheap revolvers, but does anyone have one of these??? Saw one new for 149.00 with nice looking grips.. was thinking of buying it for future grandkids.

I bought one for my nephew. Solid little gun. Absolutely fun to shoot and accurate. Looks good, feels good, shoots good. I haven't found any faults with this little revolver. Will buy ME one sometime. 😁👍

Brother, spend the extra money and get a Single Six. Even a beat up one is a much better revolver.

I bought one a year and a half or so ago... No issues, fun to shoot. Not as good as my Single 6 but a decent fun little shooter..

The wrangler is heads and tails above the rough rider......I have owned and shot both!
Yea, the single 6 is better but it also cost a LOT more.
The wrangler is a perfectly fine revolver for its intended use and it's cost!

oakie , take a look at Ruger's Super Wrangler . steel barrel ,frame ,and 22lr and 22 mag cylinders . priced in the mid 200.00 range . adjustable sights also .only the grip frame is zinc . cerakote finish .

The Wrangler as well as the Heritage 22s were made for those on a low budget and less than $200. I see both often at the range and they are both reliable and accurate. Consider a Single 6 would cost triple the price of a Wranger. I would buy it Oakie.

Why is this such a sticking point for some folks? What does it matter whether it’s alloy or not? It’s a .22, after all.
I have a Wrangler, and it’s a great little revolver. Definitely seems a lot sturdier than the Heritage.

Brother Dog, or is it Brother Frog? Not alloy, but zinc alloy. Too soft in my view. I am certain Ruger is a better build than Jennings or Raven which were also zinc alloy. Some lasted through a full magazine of shooting. I once had a Colt named pistol, built by Walther of zinc alloy. First shot, the white dots popped out of the rear sights and disappeared forever. It went downhill from there; terrible accuracy. Perhaps I am an elitist after all, I don't have to shoot zinc alloy, and don't.

OK, I may be wrong here but wasn't the Ruger Wranglers barrel manufactured with a steel liner surrounded by AL + Z Alloy?

just got my Wrangler out and put a magnet to it, magnet stick very well ( snaps right to it ) to any part of the barrel but does not stick to the grip frame at all, and you can just barely feel a pull when you put the magnet close to the main frame

Hmm.....I think maybe I like Brother Frog better. In any case, sounds like you've got some experience to back up your opinion. That helps me understand some of the objections I see floating around, so thanks for that.
And luckily, we're all still free enough to like whatever guns (cheap or "elite") that we dang well please.
Note: Secretly, all us Wrangler owners really want a Single Six anyway. We're just too cheap. 😉

I reckon we could shoot, drink coffee (or something), or order pizza most any time. And you can shoot my single sixes, sevens, old model Vaqueros, or old Colts anytime! I'm not elite, I buy for the future. Those are the best shooters too.

All zinc alloys were not created equal. I had a zamac (zinc alloy) framed Colt Frontier Scout '62 that I put probably 10K-15K rounds through with no issues except the black finish becoming somewhat unsightly after several years. It was even accurate enough to take gray squirrels when I did my part (although I won't claim all were head shots).

Yep, spot on, put a mag to my Wrangler and same result. Cyl & Barrell are FE (ferrum) latin for Iron. Since today is one of my range days I brought the Wrangler out and put a couple of boxes thru it, Great shooter!!

From a dealer point of view they are a bargain. There is alot of value for what you get. They can be tuned up. Nothing wrong with them. Ruger does stand behind there product 100%. Anything goes wrong send it back.

The grip frames on the Blackhawks are aluminum; at least the older ones are. One of the ones I have, I believe it's the old flat-top .44, is even stamped "Alcoa".

That would depend on the guns. I think I only own two 1911's now. One Colt G.M. that I bought back in 1982 and one Les Baer that I bought around twenty years ago. A lot of rounds through both, mostly 200 Gr. cast reloads, and 230 Gr. ball and I can't remember either one malfunctioning.

I didn't get a chance to go back and get it, as we had to come home early. My friend was willing to go get it for me, But now is not the right time. 😢

While I have a few Single Sixes, when they came out with the birdshead Wrangler, I just had to get one.
I think that are only $20 or so more than the regular Wrangler.
I enjoy shooting it and it looks cool to me too.

I got a bad feeling, that my buddy is buying it for me. He called and asked if I was still interested. He said he might just have to get me one for my 60th birthday in September. He is like my big brother.
