19 stitches, layered. Smarts a good bit, but at least it didn't get up into my eye area.

Seriously, they say it's from when we ran around outside when we were kids. Still, if I go out in the sun, it feels like I'm being bombarded by cancer rays.

I have had three cancers removed from my face and nose. Not fun . Wear the sunscreen!

My Mom is always running after my dad with a hat and sun screen... He's had some humdingers dug out.

Yea, my nose and forehead can't take the sun at all. Feels like they're just frying as soon as the direct light hits them. Me and my Mexican hat spend a lot of time together in the summer.

In my third bout with skin cancer. I've met with both of the Noma cousins, Mel and Carson. Not quite sure what this one is; they said it's "transitional". On the top of my left ear. Doing chemo cream now and go in for Mohs surgery early October.
They promise me I won't look like Van Gogh.

Had that done on my left temple. They went back in 3 times, in order to get it all. When they finished digging, my Doctor asked if I would like to see my skull. "Uhh...................No." They took skin from behind my left ear to skin graft it.
When nosy people ask what happened there, I usually reply "I got shot." 🤔🤐
*Another Member here has posted a photo, pretty similar to what mine looked like.
Glad they found yours and took care of it, @Frogdog.

Had my ears 'notched' 3 times so far. A couple of spots cut out of back/shoulders and several spots 'frozen' off arms.
20-30 years of t-shirt/no shirt will do that.
Now wear long sleeves year round, brimmed hat and gloves most of the time outside.

I'm going fishing tomorrow. The only skin showing will be my fingertips.

Don’t forget the hat.

Rocky, get it done ASAP. The spot on my ear was melanoma, even though the Mohs was successful the cancer had spread. Two tumors showed up at the base of my neck. And the ENT Dr. took 6 1/2 hours to do a neck resection to remove 12 lymph nodes. Seven were cancerous. He had to remove a lot of muscle/tissue along with the tumors. The immunotherapy compromised my adrenal glands and blood sodium levels crashed, causing seizures and passing out. Lost 35lbs. in three weeks, any food was repulsive to me. I will be on hydrocortisone for life to stimulate the adrenal glands.
The good news ,,,,,,,, I’m still here. 😉

They caught this one very early, FM. In fact, they caught all three of mine early. After the first one, I get "Full Monty" exams every six months. This last exam, my PA found this one and put me on a chemo cream, which is a 10-week procedure. I'm getting the Mohs as soon as that's done.
If caught early, even a melanoma is a nothing burger, really. But if not caught...well, you best have a will written.

It’s actually fully healed. Filled in by itself and the hair even grew back. Only bad thing is I can no longer balance a golf ball on my head.

Sunscreen is evil. Better to cover up.

Yea, I do wonder sometimes if you're just trading one cancer for another by wearing it. I remember one in particular ("Bullfrog" brand) that smelled like straight gasoline and went on like honey. Disgusting stuff, and tough to get the residue off too!

Yeah!! I feel the same way about BUG REPELLANT!
I compare all this chemical stuff to bathing in a tub full of gasoline! 10% Ethanol of course!

Living at the shore, I really should be doing this, but I never wear a hat or sunscreen. I just started wearing it when I ride the motorcycle or working on rooftop units. Now you guys have me worried. I should probable get some of my spots checked on my head.

Update: Skin cancer is what killed Jimmy Buffett.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Just now saw that on the News^^^^^^^^^^^
Was going to post it here, but you beat me too it.
Very rare "Merkel Skin Cancer." Very fast growing, only a 24% Survival if not found/treated early. Only 2000 cases per year in the US.
Scary stuff.
