Not with a bang but a whimper
Maybe I've been hearing too many folks
complaining about what's happening,
but no one talks about a resolution.
Only about "What's in it for me?"
I've had my three-score and ten years
Served my country when it called
I've seen some good times
And some I thought were evil
I have lived an easier life than my father
And he lived easier than his parents.
But my sons may not have that chance
And the next generation may have even less.
I heard the challenge of
"Ask not what your country. . ."
But now all I hear is the whimper
"What's in it for me?"

The whimper part is for sure. All the talk radio hosts rant on and on about how terrible things are, but all they do is talk, they never do anything about it except "Time for a quick break."

In days gone by you had to do something for your country to be considered a patriot. Now all you have to do is bitch about the government and do nothing to consider yourself a patriot.

For about the last 65 years I have been hearing old farts complaining about how easy the young generation has it, and how they don't measure up to the he men doing the whining, and never will. I am pretty sure this goes back to campfire grousing in front of the cave. Yet somehow things go on. And things will. It will not be the way it used to was. Get over it.

I remember when I first baby sat I was paid about 2.25? It took a long time to save a 100.00
In fact when I was 15 and still baby sitting I remember looking up in the antique stores back window and there was a beautiful framed picture of none other than Abraham Lincoln... The asking price was $200.00 the owner gave it to me for 100.00 and put it on lay away. I still have it.

Like where your heads at, but our different generations didn’t cut off their organs and unrepentantly support communism, until now. Hope it levels off. It’s not a weaker generation, it’s more authoritarian government and media. Lol
