Sheer genius to come up with the idea of using Native Americans speaking in their language, (also in a code) to communicate on the Battlefield.

No way were the Japanese going to break that code talk. (Hence their intense desire to capture a "Code Talker" alive.) Those were some brave Men.

As were all the Men who Served, fought, died, sacrificed and suffered. A Crisp Hand Salute. 🤚

Super, super secret at the time. The Navajos couldn't even tell their families how or where they were working.

The Navy went through quite a few of the hardest, least-used languages like Catalan, Basque, Hungarian, and Welsh, but learned that all could be translated with more or less ease. And then somebody brilliantly suggested Native American. If Navajo had ever been broken, they could cycle through all kinds of others, all different.

They got the idea from Indians using their language for coding messages for the US during world war one

I honestly never heard of the code talkers, until the movie came out. We were never taught this in school or anywhere else. I didn't realize how much they gave to our country, and the sacrifices they made. Especially after how we treated them over the years. What kind of human being, would sacrifice everything, for a nation that treated them so bad. Pride?? Love of their land, Honor??? I rightly don't know, but I'm sure glad they did and they surely deserve to be recognized for it!! Just my feelings. Amazing people. Oakie

It was code within a code: they were speaking Navajo but used code words within the language so that someone who spoke the language wouldn't understand it all.....

Without code, the Dinee dialect of Athabascan is said to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. A close friend and hunting partner was Dinee. We hunted using his peoples traditions. In over 30 years I managed to learn a handful of words. I know, slow learner.

The Dinee -Navajo- and most other Native Americans have been disproportionaly represented in the US military since WWI You would not guess that, but they consider they are protecting their homeland.

Navajo code communications had a part in "Never So Few"......one of my favorite war movies. Seems that Charles Bronson got into a "discussion" with Dean Jones about the language. 😎

Great movie........not to mention the many stars from my younger years. Heck.......any movie that has Gina Lollobrigida in it......HAS to be worth watching......and watching....and....!!🤪🥰
