That takes me back. I picked more dewberries than blackberries (plumper and juicier) as a kid, but can remember getting loaded with chiggers and seed ticks from both. Had to carry a stick to part the vines, as snakes would hang out there, It was worth the itch once Mama ran them through a sieve to remove the seeds and canned them as jams and jellies. For some reason she never did pies.

Same here! I remember picking raspberries and blackberries in 95 degree heat, getting stuck by briars, carrying a snake stick, and hating every minute of the picking process. And loving every minute of the jellies and pies.

I would eat that all day! Tame or wild? Wild has a little more βtangβ to them.
My fav is gooseberry, followed by the blackberry. πΌβ

OH Ya and you even have the ice cream to go with ,, man that looks fantastic
no berries to speak of around these parts this year as it was too dry when they where making
back when I was a kid Mom always tried to get around a 100 qt put up , either frozen or canned ,, that was a lot of work

Blackberry is my favorite, pie or cobbler. Unless you bake the version with salt instead of sugar.
