Sweet potato's...a very nutritious food and easy to store long term. Doctors will tell you just 1 sweet potato per day and you'll never starve or suffer malnourishment (it kept soldiers on both sides going during the war of northern aggression when food was scarce), several ways to eat/prepare it, can even be eaten raw.

    An on post applicable reply.

    Who'd a thunk it?

Or, buy a can opener and have plenty of alcohol (and bullets) on hand, you'll be fine. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

#1 is ammo. I prepared for a lifetime. The second thing in my bug out bag is a water purifier. First aide kit, Fishing pole with assorted hooks. I will also take a bow with me. Canned goods is a must. I also keep several different knives and fire starters. I believe these are the key elements to anyone preparing for a SHTF situation. I believe that most of us on here are survivalist. We know we need clean water, food and a way to precure food, via hunting/fishing. We know the local plants that are edible and where and when to hunt and fish. The city folk are the ones that will perish first, followed by the liberals and non sportsmen in the suburbs. Most of also know how to build a shelter from the land, which direction to place the door and where to locate it.

In short, I think most of us here are prepared for just such an event. Oakie

I can't seem to keep sweet potato's for a very long period. I have read that Fruit Cakes last for decades, if not centuries. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

If you have pets do not forget to stock up. A dog can warn of intruders a cat will keep rodents out of your stuff.
