Some folks have to learn the hard way. Never understood why some states allow it, but erring on the side of freedom, I guess.

It's very common in Europe, especially France and Germany. When traffic slows on multi-lane roads there are always several motocycles coming up behind you and passing tightly, sometimes one on each side of you at the same time.

Lane splitting is just nature's way of eliminating the stupid ones.

Lane splitting is a very dangerous move. I wouldn’t even think of doing it! However, the other day, while I was riding to town, a jerk riding another Harley passed me on the right. Scared the poop out of me as I did not see him coming. As I was shaking my fist at him, his buddy passed me on the left. I was OK with that. Dumb shiff.

    I love motorcycles.

    I love fast motorcycles.

    Lane splitting is for idiots.

    Agree with @Warbirds

I also hate it when motorcycles pass on the right.

I have seen crazy lane splitting.

We were driving back to Paris from visiting the Normandy beaches and museums. It was raining, I was doing about 120 kph (75 mph) and we had crouch rockets splitting lanes.

I have a friend who owns a funeral home, he hates motorcycles. He calls anyone who rides one a future organ donor.

I would never try it. Most of the time, it is those young kids on crotch rockets. I about put my foot up my sons backside, for doing that one day, while he was riding with me. You want to be an organ donor, go ahead. Just don't do it with your father around😡. Glad he is older now and more cautious. I have never seen anyone killed doing it, except in videos.

The worst fear I have on my bikes is, Other drivers not seeing me. Heck, I have even almost hit cycles that I didn't see in my blind spots. Couple of months ago, had a young girl in a mustang pass us on the shoulder of the road. Kicking rocks and dirt up on us, we had to pull over, as my one friend got hit in the mouth with a rock. Sad for her, as he was a NJSP Retired. She got a handful of tickets in the mail.

Legal in Utah, but with restrictions on speed and only if the other lanes are stopped, etc.

And I love it when the lane splitter gets mad because the other drivers didn't see him/her coming! Well.....its your own fault! Stay in a lane and quit SPEEDING by other motorists!

    You betcha!!

Unfortunately.......it seems as though much of society has lost the sense of integrity that reminds them to WAIT THEIR TURN..............a couple of generations ago!!😬🙁

Lots of folks do seem to have that sense of entitlement

Seems like lane splitting is usually legal where helmets are voluntary. A good stiff solution of washer fluid comes in handy.....

I would imagine it is true with those that ride motorcycles as well as those that fly airplanes… There are bold riders and there are old riders, but there are no old bold riders.

I was stuck in a jam on the interstate in LA in the big rig. Looking in my mirror, here came a motorcycle at 35mph, going to run right past my driver's door! He blasted right past me and drove out of sight. Later, I found out that is legal in California.

Dangerous. Somebody opens their door for some reason, motorcycle guy is in big trouble. That stuff ought to be illegal.
