You know when would be a better time to quit those cigs? Tomorrow.

The final few years of my Dads life were not pretty, cigs were a big part of his demise. Started as throat cancer and went, downhill from there.

I smoked my last one Feb 12 2012.

    Rest up and get well.

What Andy said, tomorrow is better. If you can do it for 15 years, you can do it. Or get pneumonia, that will get you off of them.

I'm so glad you are feeling better @Oakie .... Maybe it's time to start walking and watching your diet some... After all you want to be just like Dear Old Dad at 75 right? I think he thinks he's still 40.....

No worries on my end @Oakie. I figured you must have got in to something. Take care of yourself, Brother. Tyler is "Broken," his Mom say's, so it may not be the best time to try and reach out to him.

Glad you are up and at em'.

Oakie ya gotta quit man. I used Wellbutrin (actually a generic equivalent) but it did the job. Quitting was so easy I could not believe it. I am serious I kept saying “ there is no way quitting is this easy”. I mean I tried quitting dozens of times before without success. But with this it was amazing No anxiety, no cravings no irritability no crazy nightmares. I truly thought “this is a dang miracle drug” my doctor told me it doesn’t work for everyone but it sure worked for me and maybe it will for you. You began taking it while continuing to smoke for two weeks (need to build up the med in your body) and then just stop smoking. After about 6-8 weeks I decreased my daily intake by half and then a week later decreased by half again and after one more week stopped the medication completely. Haven’t had a smoke in over nine years. Haven’t had a craving either. The only downside is I had about forty very nice cigars that I had to give away. Still have my humidor but no more stogies..

I hope you quit SOOOON. Your future grandkids want you to be around for a long time

I also went cold turkey and like Austin I found it so easy I could not even feel virtuous. After 3 days I knew I was done.

I quit a number of years ago... It was not easy but worth it all the way around. You can do it...Do it for yourself and for your family. Both are worth it.

Prayers for your health... AND for the choices before you.

@Oakie ... just quit the smokes now. You can do it and we'd all rather read your posts than your obituary.

I am so stubborn it only took me 2 days to realize I made the right decision to quit smoking. All it takes is willpower, and it won't hurt if your wife nags you a little.

Show us how tough you are. You can do this Oakie.

Glad to hear you caught the symptoms on time and are getting better.

I won’t go into how you should quit, that is something you will have to decide on your own. I smoked for 50 years, and quitting was one of the hardest thing I ever done. I seriously believe nicotine is the most addicting substance there is. I also feel that the warning labels on the cigarettes is a joke, it should read: Cigarettes will cause you to lie and make excuses not to quit. Lol

I tried Wellbutrin once. It worked pretty good. Guess I will try it again. Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

I’m praying that it works and you are smoke free very soon.

Agree with all of the above! I sure hope you're able to kick the habit, Oakie. This would be a lesser place without you kickin' around.
