I want to put aside some funds for my grandkids college eduction. Can this be accomplished without using a "financial advisor"? Thanks

I see no reason to have a financial advisor. They will just take money from the funds that you can very well manage yourself..
2 cents.

You don’t need a financial advisor, for anything.
Particularly a 529.

A good financial advisor will make you money, not cost you money.

Depending on the state you live in, you will be given several different 529 plans, some run by your state, and some by others. All 529 plans use fairly conservative investments, so you may see then grow a bit more slowly than money invested otherwise.
