Not to unusual for all of us getting older I know .

But still a stark reminder of how fast time goes by

He was always liked in school and seemed to do well in sports.

I got word of his obituary and i was truly caught off guard the latest photo of him he did look like life had taken its toll and showed on his face the rough time he must have been having

what few memorial post I read sounds like he had become a local street person in town

I am not sure of any details just based comments made by the locals who knew him and interacted with him

What i read he was well loved by every one and they helped him out and he was always willing to lend a hand

but his life must have really took a downward sprial at some point

    RIP Eddie

In my mind you will always be that big gentle friend in high school

I just had the exact same situation this past week with a guy I was very close friends with for 45 years. What bothers me the most about these is that he was 5 years younger than me.

I think a lot of us on the forum share the fact

we have out lived most if not all our old friends and family

    I know I have

all my long time close friends have all departed and most of my family I interacted with Also are gone may they all RIP

So I use the forum as a release of feelings and events I would have never done this just a few years ago

As so many on here can relate to similar events

sad but i find i look thru the obits a lot more often i never use to even go to that section in local paper

very little time goes by I don't see the names of so many I knew and shared time with

Obvious i am glad I am stil around to honor and keep their stories and memories going

Sorry to hear about your passing old friend D\R. Just about all of the guys I hung out with in high school are gone as well.

With the advent of the internet and its uncanny ability to check up on old buddies from the past, I looked for several good friends I had when I was in the military. All of them were deceased! Got to thinking that I and all of my choices for friends may have had something to do with being a bit WILD and CRAZY in our misguided youth! 😯

I am, no doubt a very (started to say LUCKY) blessed man to still be around.

    Agree

When younger we feel invincible and do a lot of things we were lucky to make it thru

our guardian angels or karma or just dumb luck were working overtime

I think not smoking (other than some wild weed when younger ) help me to this point In life

as all my departed buddies were smokers and cancer in some form or other mostly lung cancer got them all

Same with most all my family all were smokers And cancer took them Also

We all are destined to pass but with a lot of luck and some common sense we can prolong it a bit

“There was a look in his eyes that I could always relate with,”

I just had to add this article

as it was a bit of a Suprise

I always look at the Dayton channel 7 news (about 40 miles south of us ) each night for the weather and local news

but tonight's headlines took me back a bit

I checked twice to make sure I was on channel 7 as the first thing that popped up in local new was about Eddie

    here is the article.

I realized how much he was loved by the locals. that means a lot and quit a send off for the fellow

I am going to try and make his funeral next Friday but may be a bit crowded.

I should be so lucky when I pass

    RIP Eddie

    obvious you left a impression.
