I hope you fare better than I have Kasey. I've been paying Allstate since I was discharged from the Army in 10/1965. There has never been a problem with them cashing my payment checks for multiple homes and cars/trucks. About 5 years ago I had a large tree branch fall on the roof of one of my rentals. Not nearly as much damage as you have - less than $10K. This was my first homeowner's claim and I asked my agent how to find someone for repairs. I was told that the adjuster will suggest a company. Turns out that the adjuster was from Texas and on assignment here because central IN had so many storm claims. I think my agent is only here to receive a portion of my Allstate payments.

In December 2021, the tornado that came through the town where my office is damaged my office. Not destroyed it but damaged it sufficiently that I permanently changed locations. The insurance company sent out an inspector from Michigan. I am in Arkansas. I took him to the building and left. I got a call about three days later and said the inspector would have to come back. I asked why and was told the inspector did not have a long enough ladder to get on the roof. He only had an expandable 8 ft ladder and needed a 16 ft extension ladder. I laughed and asked the customer service rep why the inspector did not ask me if I had one or knew where we could borrow one, or even buy one at the local hardware store. I bet it cost them more than a $250 ladder for him to fly back to Arkansas from Michigan the next week. He flew into Memphis and met up with a fellow inspectpr he knew and borrowed the extension ladder from him.

We spent days compiling a list of items, replacement values, and sources. Submitted $125,000 claim to insurance. Their response: You go ahead and replace items and turn in your receipts, we'll REVIEW these and compensate for those we deem acceptable. Here's $25,000 to get you started (but don't spend it until you have 25K in receipts). So far, none of the receipts have been deemed acceptable and the initial $25K is long gone.

Never take a check that isn’t full compensation.

Today I will attempt to get an answer about removal of the home. If I can, we will be lining up offers to deal with this thing and hopefully get a clear place to put another home in when we do get the settlement payment. For now, whatever needs to happen I'm trying to keep the ball rolling to get everything done asap. If I get the go ahead, I've got a couple people that want to look at the damaged home and make offers. The person that can pay and guarantee the removal will be the person that I go with. I hope to get enough just to pay for the porches to be replaced....HOPEFULLY the insurance will give enough for a replacement home. With the claim including the porch, damaged contents and tree removal....surely we are looking at a claim that will pay for just the small home to be replaced.
