    Punishing the law abiding to bring about a solution from the law abiding to a problem not caused by the law abiding is not any sort of new approach. But it is the sort of twisted logic that only ever leads to further removal of the rights and loss of freedom of the law abiding. I am weary of that game and dread the solution that it will bring.

    We used to have swift justice to act as a deterrent to aberrant behaviour and it worked fairly well. Getting back to those routes would suit me a lot better.

    Ultimately, that's the sort of solution they're going to (unwittingly) bring about. Unfortunately, they will probably get it in the form of vigilanteism. And if the leaders aren't careful, they're likely to find they're on one of the short rope drops, for their infringements. It's not something I advocate, but I've read a history book.

    I think I read the same book........

    You can't make bad people harmless by making good people helpless. I don't recall who coined that phrase, but I wish I did. I sure seem to use it a lot lately.
