My Sister just found out/communicated to me, that Mom's Insurance is all screwed up. My Mom's "Agent," made an unauthorized change to my Mom's Insurance about 6 month's ago. My Sister found out, blew a gaskets and told them to change it back. (When it happened.)
Between the VA "Tri-care" and Medicare "Red, White and Blue," my Mom had 100% coverage. My Sister had multiple heated conversations with my Mom's Insurance agent over the last 6 mo. To "Change it back." (My Sister has Power of Attorney.) After repeated assurances it "was being taken care of." My Sister just found out, it had not.
My Sister, (God Bless her) had saved all communication, E-mails, PDF's etc. about this. (She used to be a Loan Officer at a Bank.) 👍
Sister just communicated to me, she just threatened "Lawsuits." Stating she has proof/communication going back to the beginning about the "unathorized change" and demand to change it back. I am Sure some people, are scrambling/in hot water right about now.
It has reduced my Mom's coverage by at least 50% (If not more.)
My Sister is White Hot Angry, "I am Shaking, I am so Angry." To quote her.

I known several (more than 5) insurance agents that have served prison time for fraud / theft, not uncommon as one might think. Sounds like your sister will kick posterior which is good for everyone.

My Sister just communicated to me to "get to the Hospital, tomorrow if you want to see her. Mom just does not have the strength for this."
I was afraid of that, (based on my observation) but did not want to say it. Mom looked like she had aged 20 years. IMHO.

Things are beginning to get worked out after Litigation has been threatened. My Sister has had to spend 4-5 hours on the phone with various agencies to light some fires under peoples butt.
The "Independent Agent" who screwed all this up, (my Sister just told me) has in her Voicemail that she is taking a "Short day today." My Sister just called and told her, you better not go anywhere before you clear this up and correct the enormous mess you have created. If you leave before that is done, I will Sue you into oblivion. We then had my/our Attorney contact her, (A High School Classmate of myself and my Sister.) telling her the same thing.
My Sister just had Medicare on Speakerphone talking/getting Verication from my Mom, that my Sister is Authorized to make all Insurance decisions on my Mom's behalf. We're making progress.

(And) That She had just "filed a Formal Complaint with Medicare, with United Insurance (who we had never asked for) and toward the "Independent Agent" who royally screwed this up, with the State Regulatory Board."

Y'all will get a kick/laugh out of this. My Sister went down to the Lobby to make some phone calls about the Insurance debacle and get a Coffee for Herself and my Mom. She was near the Private Co. Coffee place on the phone and getting hot and threatening Litigation and filing "Formal Complaints."
She got off the Phone, took a really deep breath and turned to give her coffee order. They wouldn't even take here $$, but said "Here, you need this and it's on the House." I bought a med coffee there yesterday and it was $4.

She sounds like my wife. I sometimes think companies settle with her just to get her to leave them alone.

I would not want to be that "Independent Agent," right about now.
My Sister is out for blood.
Not asking for, but Demanding to have copies of any and all submission/enrollment paperwork (Specifically, Anything with Her or my Mom's signature on it.) She is saying she was never asked, was presented with, nor did She sign any enrollment paperwork for United Healthcare.
They were simply trying to add supplemental Vision and Dental to my Mom's existing plan. Not change everything around, reduce coverage and enroll in a new Healthcare plan.
My Sister is saying that anything with my Mom or Her signature on it, is an outright Fraud. (Also) Any $$ withdrawals from my Mom's Bank account to pay for such a policy were done under Fraudulent pretenses.
Somebody is in deep doo doo with this.
They may have thought they were screwing with some backwoods ignorant Hillbillies, but are now realizing they have royally screwed up.

Ken, I'm glad that your sister is such a go-getter. Mine is useless & screwed up helping Mom get an operation. She OKed that Mom would pay upfront with the Dr. saying they would bill Medicare double and Mom would get more back than she paid. Well, under the Dr's. contract with Medicare, they paid 20% and he wasn't supposed to charge anything more. I found a great lady at Medicare & we pushed until the Dr. reimbursed Mom. Give your sister a big hug.

Fraud in Heaalthcare in General, is rampant. (To the detriment of us all.)
