I watched the sunrise at Wake Island once thru a 2 1/2 power glass. Amazing how fast the sun moves the first 30 minutes or so.

Actually the earth rotates at the same speed all the time. The atmosphere sure does magnify the sun and moon seen from an acute angle though.

I have from 90 minutes to two hours between dawn and "sunrise" because I don't see the sun until it clears the mountains. The time varies because of the path of the sun versus the irregularity of the mountains.

Our views are sun sets. We over look (looking west) a 6 mile long lake and it's amazing how it sets from almost one end to the other over a years time.
