Got to be good. The streets are paved with gold for the RN these days.

And lots of swell infectious diseases, insurance companies, and corporate management. Austin is a hero if you ask me.

Thank you for asking, I accepted a position today. I graduated in May and I took my boards (NCLEX) in early June and passed. Wifey is a teacher so I/we decided l would take the summer off. We took a couple of fun trips, spent lots of times with our grandsons and I worked on my daughters house. Summer is over so I interviewed last week for two positions ( ICU and Oncology) and got offers from both today. I accepted one with children’s hospital on the oncology unit. I am excited to be starting work on September 25th.

Congrats. I wish you the very best in helping those babies. I could never do it, my personal feelings and emotions would get in the way. I'd stand there crying all day. Thanks for doing what some of us can't.

Way to go austin20. I could never handle your job. My wife was a nurse for 50 years and how anyone can handle that gets a lot of respect from me.

That sounds wonderful.....I love that you took some time before working and spent it making memories and helping your family. Congratulations on your new position, I'm sure it will be a very fulfilling adventure.

You have my utmost respect, Austin. As others have said, I couldn't do that job. I'd be cryin' like a baby all day and would need a therapist on speed dial.

Wait a minute....you had no job and took time off this summer? I'd like to know more about that. 😂

I "shadowed" on the unit last week for four hours on two different shifts trying to my sure it was a good fit for me and for them. I was able to help with treating kiddos ranging in age from the youngest was 18 months to the oldest who was eighteen years old. It is tough seeing what some of them are going through, but helping them (even the small help I was able to give while I was there) gave me a great feeling and I am looking forward to doing my part to help them.

Working in a children's oncology unit would be both rewarding and heartbreaking.

Thank you for your service, and God bless you.
