In a viral post from 2017, a Twitter user said their 12-year-old niece wondered the same thing. When wigs are made, the hair is descaled, which basically means the hair is stripped and conditioned so that each strand is uniform. This strips the hair of any evidence of DNA.

One of the smartest crimes I ever heard of, involved something like this. The person who committed the crime, collected hair from a barber shop, and spread it all over the floor and victim. They never caught the person or persons, because of this. He also collected DNA from several places and put those items all over the crime scene.

I can see it now, politicians collecting hair and DNA samples and then labeling it as classified info.
