Table saw fence Update with Picture
Exploded on me . Dewalt 10" table saw fence came flying apart as I was cutting some black oak up. The fence ends, are made of cheap plastic. I guess the wood binded in the saw, and ripped the ends right off the fence. I ordered new ones from Dewalt. I might have a friend make me some out of metal. He has a machine shop and can duplicate a couple for me. Gonna give his a shout tonight. Anyone else have this happen to them??? I have had wood kick back, but never seen a fence come apart like that. Scared me to death. I hate those saws, but need them to make my calls and furniture.
I Tried to JB plastic weld it together to get me through, till the new parts came it. It lasted one cut, before both broke again. Using a metal level and clamps right now. I don't even know where all the screws went, when it exploded.

I've cut a lot of wood with mine, also a DeWalt, but never had that happen! Glad you've still got all your fingers.
I'm shopping for a new saw to put in my shop. Holy cow are the bigger ones spendy! You can spend $3000.00 real fast on a good saw

I bought a Ryobi saw on c-list and it had no fence. I just C-clamp a 2X4 on the table. I use it very little so the inconvenience of no fence is no big deal….
Glad you weren’t hurt!

That’s a new one on me. Never heard of that before.

Plastic or not it should not have done that. Let Dewalt CS know, see how they respond.

Never thought about contacting them. I will do that tomorrow. I figured it was about 5 years old and well used. Thanks Joe. Oakie

Bosch here, metal. Contact DeWalt, they seem to be a decent company.

If its a portable table saw, seems all the locks on the fence are plastic and if they dont break, they move when cutting.
Portables are great for use on jobsites. I have been using C clamps to hold the fence in place and they work.

Been lookin' at those but have a hard time justifying that much coin! I have a line on a Delta X Unisaw that looks barely used in the photos and is at a great price. The downside is it's down in Meridian, ID. Not sure I want to make a 20 hour round trip this time of year to pick up a saw!

Looking for a table, or cabinet saw?

Kinda depends on what comes up at the right price. A cabinet style would be great.

Dear Old Dad has had many table saws over the years and cut a lot of different woods. I have never heard of anything like that. Call DeWalt immediately!

My Dewalt is about 15 years old and has served me well. I'll check the material on the ends tomorrow. I've never paid that much attention to them.

All my machinery is from the 1950s. No plastic there. Table saw, radial arm, bandsaw.
All are 3 phase motors.

A man that takes care of his tools! My fathers were post 50's, and I am older than you. Inheritance?

The best, I still have an old radial arms saw from that era that works great.
