Got to meet an Olympic Wrestling Champion this week.
I have been working with Marat Garipov, An Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist in wrestling all week . He was originally from Belarus, but is now an American citizen and friend. He was building some roof curbs for me , to install rooftop HVAC units. This man is strong as all heck and a really nice, down to earth guy. We exchanged phone numbers and are gonna go out for Dinner one night, with our wives.

I have found most wrestlers are freakishly strong regardless of weight class.

Who's the Old Dude, with the Possum on his chin? π€πππ€£
On of my best friends in the Army was Bruce "Beatle," Bailey. An Olympic Greco Roman Wrestler. (Talk about a good back up.) We worked out together, for years.
Unfortunately, when I searched to find him a few years back, I discovered him deceased. Broke my Heart. (Heart attack, Oakie.)
My recommendion? Do not wait to track down and tell people who were important Friends, in your Life, how much you LOVE them.
(Like Oakie.)

My older Grandson is a collegiate wrestler. Sort of tall and skinny . Coach says it gives him 'more reach' than the typical 125# wrestler.

The ears though!!!!!!!!!! He has "cauliflower ears" from wrestling. I guess that is from breaking the blood vessels???

That's from being dumb and not wearing your headgear!
It's caused by blunt force injuries that cut off the blood supply to the cartilage in the ear. So very easy to prevent.

You REALLY do not want to get in a fight, with a Wrestler. π€
@Oakie, we look a lot alike. (Only) I am a leaner, meaner version of you. (6'1" 195.) Been letting my goatee grow out over the last 4-5 months. I have the same "Dead Possum," on my chin. ππ€£π

It must not paid to well to be an Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist.Β You would have thought the guy would have gotten taken care of some for all his training and metals. Good pics.

He competed for Belarus. He moved to the United States and became a proud citizen, about 8 years ago. Trust me when I say, He makes killer money. His company does all commercial work. Although this was our first time working together, We have three more, 56 unit strip malls, to do together.

Most countries don't pay their Olympic athletes much, including the USA. Especially in non mainstream sports like wrestling.

In the US we wear headgear in high school and college, only because we are forced too. When wrestling freestyle outside of scholastic seasons NO ONE wears then as they a big liability in many moves, if you haven't wrestled you wouldn't get it. At the senior world/Olympic level no one wears headgear.

I'm surprised he got citizenship, Belarus is not a super common country that the US grants citizenship to.

Lookie here, a foreign born Citizen of another country that came to America, learned the language, became a productive US Citizen in our great melting pot of people. He is productive, caring for him and his, he pays taxes works hard and is a success. He should be outraged by the mess dementia Joe Biden has willingly caused on our borders.

I have wrestled, that's how I know I'd rather have my headgear on than my ears mangled. And yes, did some freestyle and Greco, with headgear. No issues.
