Winter is getting closer
We had a freeze warning last night. And sure enough it got down to 28° last night. This morning the sun is blinding and it's warming back up. It won't be long before I have to dig out my Long Johns. 😀

Southwest Arkansas here. Supposed to be 84 today. I deer hunted in short sleeves over the weekend, fighting mosquitoes and wasps. I'm so ready for cooler temps!

70 here in Wisc. But a 100 degree change isn't usual up here, just waiting😲

You should see it this morning. There's about 5" on the deck and it's 19°.
And now the wind is starting to blow.

Forecast high of 66 today and 42 tomorrow, with "only" a 99% chance of rain for about 12 hours straight. Snow up higher, of course.
Also, right on time, I came down with a cold today. Usual complaints. No biggie. Zicam and hot toddies.

That's a real good question, Ruger! As tight as they are with their scheduling if we miss today we may be SOL. Gonna throw some chains on the truck and trailer and give it a go getting it off the hill in one piece. There's about 1/4 to 3/8 of a mile that's a pretty good pitch, probably around an 8 or 9 per cent slope, with a pretty decent drop on the downhill side. That's the part that really gives me pause.

Good luck, take it easy. @NeoBlackdog
We also got hit with the storm.

Winter is my second favorite season right after fall. When the snow comes I get to do my favorite activity, plowing snow. But that's only because I have a cab with a heater on my tractor. The first tractor I had was an open-station model and I used to freeze my nums nums off until I bought a cab for it. After a couple of seasons with it, I traded it for my new tractor.
When I was a kid I used to love it when I would listen to the radio and they would announce that our school was closed. Then I would bundle up, get out the shovel, and clean the sidewalks for the elderly widows around me. Most would give me a quarter or fifty cents, but my next-door widow was as poor as a church mouse, so I would shovel her's for free.
The good old days, when all I had to worry about was making enough money to buy my next model car kit. 😀

8 or 9 percent is a pretty good pitch. can you get those critters crowded up tight in the trailer so they're not moving around? You got the right idea chaining up though. It is amazing what a set of tire chains can do.

Sounds like a good old fashioned cattle drive would be a better decision. Just stay safe.

Snow is predicted for today, and it just started! So much for a beautiful fall.

Our first snow hasn't amounted to diddly squat. I can still see the blades of grass poking up through and nothing sticking to the gravel or concrete around here.
Stay safe @NeoBlackdog .

Thanks for all the well wishes! We made it down and back OK. Had the pickup chained up all the way around and a set of chains on the rear tires on the 5th wheel stock trailer. Had 'em crowded pretty tight to the front. I'll tell ya what! Even chained up all the way around it was a little western gettin' down the hill. Never would have made it without the chains.
