An Excellent Western -
"Hostiles." 2017, Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi and others.
Watching it for the second time now.
Excellent. Highly recommended. π
*Really well done. A lot of faces (Actor's) you will recognize in it. Sorry I do not know all the names.

Wes Studi is a great actor. I liked him in Last of the Mohicans also.

Last of the Mohicans, is one of my all time favorite movies. A Cinematic Masterpiece. A few scenes were shot not too far away from where I live now. (I've been told.)
*Daniel Days all time best performance. IMHO.

Is "Blazing Saddles" still allowed to be televisedπ

Would loved to have seen it on the big screen. I think Allen Griggs knows where some of the scenes were shot.

If people weren't so stupid, they'd realize Blazing Saddles is pure satire. But you gotta have some brains to understand satire and "taking the p**s" as the Brits would call it.
I think it's one of the most brilliant movies ever made. And the most quotable.

Last of the Mohicans was filmed in the Linville Gorge and community of Linville falls area of western NC.

Early in the movie there was a scene where Daniel Day Lewis was at dinner with some friends who lived in a log cabin. Later, the Indians killed that family and burned the cabin.
A year after the movie was shot, I was looking at some land for sale outside Weaverville NC. It was on Blackberry Inn Rd. Adjacent to this property was a meadow and in that meadow was the ruins of a burned down log cabin. A local guy told me that was the cabin burned for Last of the Mohicans.

Early on, when the Special Forces was first getting formed and trained, the trained extensively in the Linville Gorge Wilderness area. I have hiked and camped that area extensively. Beautiful area. Extremely rough terrain.

I watch LOTM regularly due to the awesome flintlock rifles, beautiful outdoor settings, the fairly well done historic props, costumes, and last but not surely least is the BEAUTIFUL Madeleine Stowe!! π
Haven't seen Hostiles but will put it on my DVD buy list for a winter viewing.

Linville Gorge is one of the most deadly hiking areas around. Never travel it alone nor after dark.
Those that frequent it have several "tricks of the trade" they use to keeping them from getting lost or show up missing.
Pretty sure there have been people that have slid down in some of the huge slits in the rocks and their remains are still there.
84, the military still uses the gorge for training and so does those that fly fighter jets. We get buzzed often by a fighter jet doing low passes. I tell the crew that is just my wife doing test runs on her broom.

There used to be a guy on Coast to Coast radio show who talked about the mysterious lights in the Linville Gorge area. They are called The Brown Mountain Lights.
People have been seeing these mysterious lights for over a century, there is no good explanation. Of course, on Coast to Coast they always wanted to blame ghosts or UFOs.

I have never seen the BML's but have friends that have. When spotted they were on the east side of Hwy-181 They have not been discussed in the local crowd for some time. I bet it has been over 40 years since they were brought up. I will inquire at the breakfast club in the morning and get back to ya'll
Some suggest they are some sort of "gas".
Reckon Ken might have been on a training mission about that time? He does a great amount of cooking and eating.

Yes. I am full of "Gas." π€πππ€£

Need to cheer this gang up a bit. Ha ha.
Just found a face book post of a F-15, maybe, making a run yesterday on the gorge. Maybe Griggs can post the link. I sent him a PM request. I am computer dumb and dumber..

It would have to be redacted so much one would think one was watching a blaxploitation movie.
"Hostiles" was pretty good. There was another movie with similar name and time frame that was pretty good. A Civil War dad who was thought to have died goes back looking for his kids that got gave away off a train. "Hostile Territory". I started to type in Hostile and the title of the movie I was thinking came up in the google search.
While on the Westerns you have to get, the one with Nic Cage doing his first Western is a must. "The Old Way". It's a blendo of other Westerns but it's Nic Cage on a horse. Now if you want What The Fork Nic Cage movie see Prisoners Of The Ghostland". A Samurai-esque Western with Nic Cage.
I heard good things about the movie "Old Henry". It's played by the same guy who did "The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs".

Believe it or not, Blazing Saddles was on Turner Classics a few months ago and it was uncensored.
"Don't risk the lives of two good horses in that quicksand, you dummy! Send over a couple n**!"
Here's a screen shot of some of the milder dialogue.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mel Brooks got a knock on his door from the FBI.

Griggs, perfect job on the gorge post.
The leaves were almost at peak during that week.
For some reason at the time Saddles came out, I think being offended had not been discovered.

Linville Gorge, is @Butchdog3 and my backyard. We live in an extremely beautiful area. (See my sig line.) My Sister was commenting on just that this past Monday as we drove around Watauga Lake to and from my Mom's funeral at the VA. (Leaves were peak.) We were also commenting on all the Million $$ + luxury houses being built on all the ridgetops. Out of Staters have definately discovered our Backwoods Jewel and have been moving in/building, in droves.
*Your name came up a couple times Ed. (As well as Sarah.) ππ

not sure they were born with no common sense, but they were sure raised without any, most of the parents let them do anything they wanted and never corrected them or spanked them for doing wrong, and they just never learned any common sense as they were never told no...........
