I missed a big one. He the drag screaming and I couldn't get him up from the 70 ft. bottom. He went under the boat and cut the line.

( the one that got away😎)

Me, too. Unfortunately, they recommend eating only 4 ounces a month from the New River below Radford Army Ammunition Plant due to the PCB and Mercury pollution from the government facility.

Many folks eat the fish. I don't.

I had no idea the New River got to be 70' deep in places. Down here it is more large Creek like. I have paddled the New River Gorge a few times, on adventure trips. (Years ago.) Took my 10'ish year old Son on one. (Very high water trip.) He Loved it. The guides were using him to shame adults, who were wanting to pull off at the lunch break. (We did 22 miles.) I got to go for free, due to where I worked. I left the guide a $100 bill.

We camped there in my Pickup truck the night before. Was down South for a Family visit. Headed back North, to NY/NJ. (Had coordinated it in advance.) We displayed, distributed their brochures in our Outdoor Adventure Equipment Store. (Hence the Free trip.)

    Good times, good memories.

    *Sorry for the Hijack/detour.

I was thinking nice bit of water for cats and it sure looks like it from pic. #2.

What did you use for bait? I only ask because that's one strange looking chicken liver.
