Don't know if I have the terms correct, but it sounds like a broadband issue. Not enough band width for all the users during the day & evening.

(And) That Sir, is EXACTLY what I have been saying to my "Service," provider, (Verizon.) for years now.

"Terrain Issues," my Butt. How is it time related? (Almost down to the hour, everyday?)

    *They are screwing me.

Sounds like an excuse for: We have no idea what the problem is.

They obviously want to blame something they have no control over rather than admit they have insufficient tower capacity - which would cost them to upgrade.

I have the same problem at around 4 to 7 pm. All the kids getting home from school, wanting to go on the puter and doing homework. During the summer, it is fine, but in the fall, what a PITA.

I am very close to telling Verizon to shove it. Why should I pay $75/mo for abysmal/crappy "Service?" I will switch back to Tracfone for $35/mo and use the same tower/same issues. (But) Gain back, unlimited Talk, text and data.

I just need to consult w/a local Computer guy, to make sure he can synch my Tablet to my Phone. (Current configuration and reason I switched to Verizon.) When I spoke to Tracfone a year or two ago, they could not supply me with an answer. (Reason I am still getting ripped off by Verizon.)

I'm about done with this BS.

Exactly right. Terrain effects the signal strength coming to your house and terrain doesn't vary during the day.

Think of the water pressure at your house. If someone is taking a shower, the washing machine is filling up, and you go to wash your car, you're gonna get low pressure because of too many users.

The same applies to broadband signals. And when the signal strength is less than optimal, the result is what you're experiencing Ken.

Tell Verizon to stop yanking you around and give you a solution.

I've been talking to Verizon for years about this. I am ready to drop them. Why pay them $75/mo for crappy "Service?"

I can change back to Tracfone, (which I have had before,) get the same crappy "Service," and same Tower usage and pay $35/mo. (With "Unlimited," Talk, Text and Data.) My only hesitation, has been connecting my Tablet to my phone "Service," so I can get 4G Internet access.

Pretty sure a Computer specialist/service in my area can accomplish that. Tracfone, was like Huh??

I thought you fixed your terrain issues when you got your new ATV

It did help in the sense thst I can take my phone or Tablet to the head of our Holler, in order to get "Service."

My daughter installed Starlink. I'm waiting to see how it works for her $150/ month.

Starlink is incredible. I'm about ready to do it, if my local po-dunk isp (ran by a guy who doesn't wear shoes.....(really!!) doesn't get their act together.

    Ken,

Look into putting an antennna up. They aren't much money, and work great. For $300 or so, you could put it on a 20' pole on the top of your house, and improve your internet probably 5x what it is now.

I've researched and purchased a Wagi antennae plus a booster and the supplemental equipment. The peak of my very steep A-frame roof is 3 stories up. I'm figuring out how I can get it up there. I don't bounce so good anymore and I sold my longest ext. Ladder to a neighbor who wanted it more than I did.

The directions say "on the peak of your house." Maybe lower will work?

Borrow the ladder back for a day.

Also terrain issues are real, but @Kevin_L is correct that number of users and time of day is probably also contributing to your issue.

Of course I may be wrong since I only spent most of my career working in the communication industry and am now retired...😀

If I had to guess, I would suspect it's like how radio stations have to trim their power at night... because there is less light interference.
