zip zap out with the bad in with the good
6:30am i checked in with the cardiac surgery unit service desk. by the time all the paperwork was completed and i was fully prepped, i then was wheeled into the surgery unit by 7:43 am 10:30am i am recovering, enjoying a late breakfast and getting all the wound care instructions. 11am i am heading home.
i am the proud recipient of a brand spanking new pacemaker with 10 year battery. surgeons first rigged up a temporary PM to work while the old one was removed and new on implanted. then the temp was removed, and i was finished up.
easy peasy no problems other than a little soreness where the old and new were swapped. no painkillers needed, only some serious antibiotics in the IV.

Dang!!! Amazing what they can do. This isn't tonsil we're talking here. This is the ticker itself, some serious stuff. Glad you're fixed up and back home. Stay well.

Great news discusdad. As montanajoe said, it's amazing what the docs can do now. Whenever I start to complain about how I am doing I read a post like this and shut up.

Hi Oakie, I had 5 bypasses several years ago. If you are in reasonable shape you shouldn't have any issues. I felt fine before the surgery, and the only issue I had was they didn't tell me there was going to be a breathing tube down my gullet. When I woke up I wanted that thing gone NOW. I broke the restraint on my right arm and tried to pull that tube out myself. Enough of them held me down that I couldn't accomplish my mission. Later that day they had me up and walking, and I felt very little discomfort. The most important thing to remember is to always have your heart-shaped pillow with you at all times. They will tell you why.
Good luck, Joe
