My favorite has been the laserlyte if you lose the arbors they're real good about sending you new ones free if charge. I have a few that go in the chamber never had much luck with them

I've become a fan of the laser type. The collimator type tends to be influenced by the height of how the scope is mounted. Both types will get you on the paper with a scope mounted in low or medium rings. But the laser does a better job with high or see-thru mounts. Also works good when someone mounts an optic on an AR's carry handle. Just my 2 cents, Bob

I've always put a pistol target up at 25 yards.......and then removed the rifle bolt. Sight through the bore, and then adjust the scope accordingly. Usually gets me to within one inch at 25 yards.

I have never liked the idea of putting arbors in the muzzle........not to mention the horror stories of leaving the arbor in......and firing.🤯

Yeah that's the good old stand by for doing bolt actions and I have probably done it that way a hundred times and it works well. Doesn't work so well on pumps, levers or semi's though. I never used a bore sighter much until I was mounting scopes for customers. The variety of rifles and the time constraints made a bore sight a mandatory tool. Of course even though I'd tell the customer that they needed to shoot it and get it tuned in before hunting, I hope I got them close because I know a bunch of them didn't bother.😖 Bob

The bore sights I have are single use. Unless you reload..

Seriously though, I can't recall a single scope I have installed that wasn't on paper at 25yds.

There's a guntuber called Who-Tee-Who that likes a magnetic laser he can just plop on the muzzle of whatever rifle he wants to, and have it hitting about 2 inches below his point of aim at 10 yards, which usually puts him about dead on at 100 yards if memory serves. Can't remember the brand though.

El Cheapo. Load up a couple of wax bullets, shoot 'em in yer back yard or garage. Clean barrel and test fire at the range. Back in the 60's wax was the rage, it even saved a few fast draw artists from leg wounds. Caution, this may become addictive as it is a lot of fun without driving to the range.

I have a brand new laser bore site and never used it. I just shoot a round at 25 yards, Put the crosshairs on the bullseye, and adjust the scope to the bullet hole. I usually can site in the rifle in three to four shots. I think I won this bore site at a Friend of the NRA dinner and raffle, about five years ago.

My son picked up a bore sight that goes into the chamber. Seems to do the job.
