They first came to my attention with the Disney movie about their rescue from the nazis in ww2 by the US army .Always wanted to see them in person one day . Maybe they will come close by on tour sometime .

Never heard of them till now. Grew up with the Clydesdales at Grants farm and performing at events at the Arena in St. Louis

Ah yes, I too have watched "Crimson Tide".
Yup me too. On there I learnt the horses were born black. I recall seeing ads on tv when they were coming to near by city back in '80s? Other than seeing them being mentioned in the movie "Crimson Tide" was like the last time. Didn't even know they were still out and about doing their thing.

What does the word "Lipizzaner" mean anyway?
From Lipizza, the Spanish riding school in Austria. "Lipizzaner" is a breed of horse that refers to a white or grey horse, that can be born about any horse color, but turn white or grey as they mature. General Patton had 200 mares rescued by a Montana cowboy under his command, before the Russians could get them. I saw them perform at the Cow Palace many years ago. Impressive to see a 1300lb horse jump straight up like a cat.

Have gotten to see them in action twice and would go again tomorrow.
impressive horsemanship and even more impressive horseflesh.
Their history is very interesting.
