The last big 'pre-winter' chore is done.
Finished getting the last of our wood in for the winter. We put up 4 cords in the woodshed and have another 2 stacked and tarped outside that'll need to dry for another season.
I'm a bit of a wood hoarder. 19+ dry cords inside and 2 outside to dry.

I hate doing this every summer. We usually do about 5 to 7 cords. Your firewood is more like a full time job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank god for log splitters and a son with a couple of good friends😉. The beer is cheap payment too.

In reality I only put 4 cords in the shed and stacked another 2 outside to dry more. The other 15 cords were already in the shed. You beat me by a long ways, HPD! You should be puffed up, 11 cords is a LOT of work!

Me too, we have nine cord split and stacked. But we are still looking for more for next year. At our age, 80, we like to stay about 2 years ahead in case we can't cut it when we become senior citizens! Ed, way up north in Norcal.

I never had that much time to spend cutting wood before winter--too many other farming tasks that required attention during fall.
A month back, I helped Son 'process' his winter wood supply. He rented a commercial type firewood processor and we worked through approximately 8-10 cords in 5 hours. My mostly insignificant part was loading the 'deck' with pre-cut seasoned oak 'pole wood' (10-24" butt X 8-16' length) with the skid loader. Not strenuous but tedious and requiring deft loader control. Most of this wood was not touched by hand during the process. The split wood dropped off the elevator into a 'dump trailer' and was hauled to the woodpile 1/4 mile away to be dumped and then piled higher with the loader.
Back in the days when I was heating with wood, we tried to add at least one pickup load every weekend to maintain at least one cord ahead of what we'd used the previous week.

that amount would just barely get my son thru winter , but that does include keeping a heated floor in his shop going all winter as well as the house

I'd Love to have that much wood split and in the dry. Nice job. 👍😁 I had a double axle Dump truck load dropped in front of my Woodshed a couple weeks ago for $350. I've got it covered up w/a big 16X20 tarp. I need to get it picked up and thrown in the woodshed, but I have been suffering from a motivational deficit. (As well as a lot of Family stuff going on.) You guy's are making me feel bad. 🤔

Are you talking cords or face cords? I heat my house with 12 ie 14 Face cords per year and Im In Wis.

Yep, I never ever heard of such a thing as a "face cord" until a couple years ago here on the forums. Sounds to me like a phony baloney way to say nothing. You either have cords, or half cords, or ricks. Google is telling me that a rick is the same as a face cord, but I grew up learning that a rick is 1/3 cord. So when I say rick that's what I mean.

I had to look up a face cord. Same as you, it's what I learned as a 'rick'.
