Late night early morning passing thought
As I don't sleep so well, my mind overruns with memories good and bad
Any way
How many of you had platform shoes and Bell bottom pants back in the day
Being short I have had a lot of comments when the conversation came about how it must have been odd to be normal in height with every one
I just reply I had them of course, they added 3 to 4 inches to my height depending which pair i was wearing
but since Everly one else was wearing them also )made no difference Lol
I kept them for a long time the bell bottom pants and platform shoes as just keepsakes to the trends of days gone by.
but many years ago my wife threw all them away while I was at work one day
I did not notice for some time as they had been put up for yrs and when I discovered it yes I was upset but nothing I could do lol

Yes. I went to Jr High and 1/2 of High School in Miami, in the 70's.
(And) My favorite platform shoes were kinda a bluish/purple Velvet/suede type finish/surface. Loved those shoes.
I'm in the same boat as you, Ditch with the Sleep problems. Can't get my mind to turn off.

Crazy how the mind can just keep going even when you are dog tired

Yes had the shoes plus the outfit to go with them.
My wife and I were dating and we were at a different club every weekend.
I was managing the bakery deliveries for a local grocery store chain so had to be at bakery for 3 am to make sure trucks were loaded correctly.
I used to drop now wife off at 2 am and head straight to work. Those were long days but it is amazing what you can do when you are 25 years old.

A memory just hit me, that I will share. When we were living in Miami in that time frame, My Dad has a very large assortment of the polyester "Leisure Suit," (Remember those?) In some really rude colors. (Avocado green, sky blue, white, etc.) w/the prerequisite White dress shoes and white dress belt. (Think Herb Tarlick on WKRP In Cincinnati.) They were flippin' Hysterical. π€πππ€£
Dad, (God Bless him) must have been Color Blind. It was always entertaining to be at the breakfast table to see what he would come out with. Absolutely Hysterical. He took major abuse. W/a Good Natured smile.
*We also had a Big White Oldsmobile 98 (Land Yacht) that Dad put (wait for it....................) Whitewalls on it. Dad musta' been a Pimp in a different life. π€
(And) Yes, we all watched WKRP in Cincinnati together. Herb would come out with that shows "Outfit," to canned laughter. We all just turn around, look at Dad and start laughing and pointing. He took it all with a good natured smile.
Love and Miss You, Dad.
*Sorry for the Highjack. (Somewhat related.)

I had a leisure suit, but no big shoes. My feet were big enough. π

He told my sons yep I remember your dad when he was a pimp and went on to describe how I dressed made us all get a smile on our face

Those polyester shirts would just about erupt and melt into a huge blackened hole when a live ash from a cigarette landed on them. Would leave an awful 2nd degree burn on your chest if you went without a heavy T shirt. Ask me how I know this! π²

Yup, went through that during my HS years in the 70's. We were the kids that were into rock music and hanging out.
