    Funny stuff......

I was pheasant hunting with some friends back when we were all about 16,,,, We had a 'new' guy with us that day and I was not real sure about him from the beginning. We had a good day and all got at least one bird each. As we were walking out of the field, the new guy started taking aim at a rabbit that ran between he and myself...Luckily the ground absorbed most of it, but several of the #8 did hit my calf area after bouncing off the frozen ground. I had heavy clothes on so it did not penetrate the skin, but it hurt like heck.... It was a good thing my buddy took hold of me before I creamed the new guy. He was never invited to hunt with us after that...and told NO WAY when he asked.

I am just thankful this was in the days before 3" shells were generally used and he had bird shot and not something bigger..

When I was in 12 th grade

I ask my teacher if I could bring in a gun for the class as my sales demonstration

it was a deca class like a work 1/2 day school 1/2 day Not sure if they even do that anymore

Any way he agreed so I took in a m 1 carbine I had just bought

funny No one got scared or panicked no swat team showed up as I carried it thru the halls or had it in the class room End of day I just walked it back out to the car .

Man it was sure different times back then

I remember most of the guys in that class were gun inthuesest and had all ready started accumulating guns

My grandmother had a Browning Double Auto, in a soft case, across her lap when I pushed her in a wheelchair from one end of O’hare Airport to the other. No one said a word, and only a hand full even looked.

Walking up the stairs to board the plane the pilot ask, “Whatcha got” ??, I told him and he ask if he could have a look. Took it out of the case and he shouldered it, stating it would make a nice quail gun. Times have changed.

Back when I lived in N NJ right on the NY line, (when back home here in TN/W NC) - I bought my Son a pellet rifle. (He would have been around 10'ish.) Only to learn that NJ considers BB/Pellet guns to be Weapons. Subject to all the silly Laws up there. Subject to a "Felony," if you are caught with one.

We lived about as Rural as possible up there. (Log cabin community in W Milford, NJ /Greenwood Lake NY/NJ. Woods all around. AT right behind my house. My Son could not understand why he could not walk with it down our dead end road into the woods. (All it would take is one Liberal/Anti Gun neighbor, to call the Cops.)

I still shake my head over the Stupidity. So glad to be out of there.

That's what you call "Not Walking Around With Guns."

Back in HS some of the guys would come to band practice directly from the dove fields and lean their shotguns in the corners. Amazingly, none of those shotguns ever loaded themselves and shot any kids, despite having a couple hours of opportunity. Guess they were just made better then.

Ken & Oakie, our HS in Jersey had a rifle range in the basement. We had a rifle team & competed with other schools as a winter sport. Back in the early 70's I walked back and forth with a rifle, or caught a ride with friends, kept it in school's office & no one batted an eye.

During deer season the rifles were just kept in our lockers. Rode the school bus serval times with my 30-30 Marlin we would hunt a hour before school was open and hit the woods as soon it was let out
